Aaron Fisher spent his formative years in magic learning from the greats like Larry Jennings and Michael Skinner. His first major release, The Paper Engine: Tension, Focus and Design in Card Magic, solidified his reputation as one of today's most accomplished sleight-of-hand artists. Today, when he isn't playing Chinese checkers with Paris Hilton, Aaron Fisher spends most of his time on tour, destroying belief systems at major universities and corporate events around the world. He also frequently headlines every showroom at the world famous Magic Castle in Hollywood, CA. More importantly, Fisher is acknowledged internationally as one of today’s most effective sleight of hand teachers. Q&A:

Q: What is theory11 to you? Why is this site different?
A: Traditionally, magic companies work very similar to the way studios did in the golden age of cinema. Theory11 works on a different principle – partnership with the artist. For me, that makes all the difference in the world.

Q: What got you into magic?
A: These days, I don't feel like I chose magic at all. Magic chose me. Sound familiar?

Q: How long have you been performing?
A: 15 years – full time for 5.

Q: Do you have a favorite effect?
A: The last one I came up with (changes every two weeks).

Q: Who is your favorite performer to watch?
A: Juan Tamariz, Lee Asher, Stetson, Eric Mead, Mac King, and Penn & Teller.

Q: Tell us about the first time/effect you performed.
A: The first time I perform ANYTHING it's terrible. I always try and do it in some out-of-the-way spot for people I'll never see again who don't know me. Every time I do something BRAND new outside these circumstance I regret it!

Q: What do you see as wrong with the industry today?
A: Magic, as an industry, doesn’t focus on the work. If theory11 stays focused on quality effects and real teaching – there’s no reason they can’t be one of the first real steps in a lasting solution to the problems facing the art.

Q: What’s the last trick you saw that fooled the crap out of you?
A: Sinful: Coin in the Soda Can. Wayne rocks!

Q: What advice would you give to those that are just starting in magic?
A: Perform all the time and practice what you love. If you do both of those things all the time, there’s nothing that can stop you!
