Cannibal Cards by Mike Hankins

Posted by Jonathan Bayme on September 24th, 2010 in New Releases

A classic plot in magic is the Cannibal Cards. Originally developed by Lin Searles in the 1950′s, the effect has been a favorite among many of magic’s most respected creators. Tonight, we unveil a new spin on it by Mike Hankins.

Eugene Burger called it “wonderfully surprising with a perfect final line.” Deceptive, fun, and contemporary, this rendition of Cannibal Cards is streamlined and diabolical in presentation.

Four cards are violently devoured by the deck without mercy. Capped off a twist, surprise ending that will leave you speechless.

Special thanks to Bill Malone for his blessing and permission to include the first phase of this routine. Learn it now in 20 minutes of studio instruction.

Sentinel Bottles by Jamie Grant

Posted by Jonathan Bayme on September 21st, 2010 in New Releases

You won’t believe your eyes. A normal, sealed deck of cards is somehow trapped in a glass bottle. There is no explanation. Each bottle is hand-made by Jamie Grant, and this special edition is available for the first time exclusively at theory11.

Other editions have sold for $150+. We’re offering these up today in collaboration with Jamie for $100. It’s a great deal, and a bargain for the amount of time, effort, and expertise Jamie exercises in manufacturing each one.

They’re a unique, persistent reminder that anything is possible, and a beautiful piece of art to place on your shelf.

Whenever someone sees it, the bottles will instantly generate a response: “how did you do that?” And that’s what magic is all about. See details and the preview video here.

Riffle Stacking by Jason England

Posted by Jonathan Bayme on September 18th, 2010 in New Releases

There is one move that has been requested since the start of our sleight of hand series with Jason England: riffle stacking. The ability to control a card, or several cards, to any position in the deck. Imperceptibly.

Riffle stacking is an exercise in what is possible, with practice, with a deck of cards. There is no big secret as to how it is done, but there are countless details and nuances that will guide you along the way. In this 41 minute video, Jason England takes you by the hand and leads you along that path.

To those of you familiar with Jason England’s series here at theory11, you know to expect exhaustive credits and text references. This video has none. Why? Because quite frankly, there are none (well, very few). This video is one of the few comprehensive resources on riffle stacking, anywhere, ever.

Steve Cohen On Tour

Posted by Jonathan Bayme on September 14th, 2010 in General

Later this month, a close friend of theory11 will be leaving home and traveling out west. Steve Cohen has performed for the past decade at the Waldorf Astoria here in New York City. His show is intimate, unique, and critically acclaimed. Steve is a phenomenal performer who was featured recently in the New York Times and on David Letterman.

Usually, the only place to see Steve perform is at the Waldorf Astoria, where his show consistently sells out. This month, however, you can see him in Boston on September 17th at the Fairmont Copley Plaza and in Los Angeles on September 24th and 25th at the Beverly Wilshire. I cannot recommend seeing his performance more, so if you are in Boston or Los Angeles, click here for more information and tickets.

Steve will be returning to NYC shortly thereafter, at which time you can catch his show at the Waldorf in Manhattan.

Colorblind by Luke Jermay

Posted by Jonathan Bayme on September 11th, 2010 in New Releases

Imagine the ability to SEE with your fingertips. Imagine the ability to divine – without looking – the color of each card in a shuffled deck. This is COLORBLIND. About a year ago, Luke began to demonstrate a groundbreaking, original routine for some of the top names in magic – from Jason England to Chris Kenner.

The routine was brilliant: being able to determine the color of a card without looking, with 100% accuracy. Months later, Luke tipped the original method for the routine in a full length DVD. Today, Luke builds upon that foundation in presenting FIVE unique methods to accomplish the SAME effect, including the original handling. Includes EVERYTHING you need for all 5 methods.

SMOKE by Alan Rorrison

Posted by Jonathan Bayme on September 11th, 2010 in New Releases

Along with our new site launch, we welcome several monumental releases. The first of which is SMOKE by Alan Rorrison. This is an effect that Alan has been working on for several years now – a utility prop with endless applications.

Within the SMOKE DVD, you will learn several example applications as well as a full routine by Dan White. A match is ignited and pressed to a small black dot – a portal – is drawn on the palm of your hand.

With your other hand, you slowly trace the path of ignition up your arm, across your chest, and finally to your mouth. You open your mouth – and a cloud of smoke emerges.

New Release: Sentinel Playing Cards

Posted by Jonathan Bayme on September 11th, 2010 in New Releases, Playing Cards

They told us it couldn’t be done. SENTINELS challenge everything you know about high-end playing cards. You have never seen a deck like this before. Referred to by many as “the world’s finest deck of cards” – we have raised the bar higher than ever before.

The box is printed on imported paper 40% thicker than normal tuck cases – and has metallic accents on SIX sides. The art is embossed in 20 locations and coated with a matte varnish to enhance durability.

The first mainstream deck in magic that is composed 100% of original art – the faces, the backs, the box. And yes – even the court cards. Every single design element has a meaning behind it. The deck represents magic, the industry of deception, and the allied arts.

Printed exclusively in Q1 quality on the casino web press at the United States Playing Card Company, under strict supervision from senior press technicians. theory11 is the ONLY company in magic that prints exclusively and only on the web press – it makes all the difference in the world.

See details, images, and the full length preview video here.
