I remember the moment. The instant that Blake Vogt stood in the kitchen of Chris Kenner’s house and I saw REF4M performed live (in person) for the first time. I was standing over his shoulder. And I specifically remember that the card was signed – borrowed. It was my deck. Piece by piece, Blake restored the torn card. And everyone in the room was silent. It looks like a miracle. It feels like a miracle.
REF4M is a torn and restored card routine unlike any other. It can be performed surrounded. The card is borrowed – signed – and freely selected from the deck. And there is absolutely zero setup. It sounds too good to be true, and that’s why I firmly believe that Blake has sold his soul to the devil. He might be a warlock. Watch the full preview video and see complete details on the product page.
Due to illness, and lack of a voice, Zach Mueller was unable to host this week’s episode of The Insider. Therefore, we were in desperate need for a replacement. In walked Blake Vogt, creator of REF4M and the newest member of the David Copperfield creative team.
Within this 17th episode, Blake talks about his brand new effect (released just a few moments ago!) – and makes fun of Calen Morelli as much as humanly possible. Watch the full episode now and see all previous episodes in our Insider Vault.
Blake Vogt moved to Las Vegas just two weeks ago to work on the creative team for David Copperfield. Blake was hand-picked alongside his close friend Calen Morelli for their shared, remarkable ability to think outside the box and create incredible magic.
Another Friday, another episode of The Insider. You know you’re excited. Our 16th episode highlights the FIVE brand new releases in our store from DeckONE v2, to the new Uncut Sheets, to our incredible new Sentinel Canvas Art!
We also discuss the recently announced strategic alliance between theory11 and the USPCC, a trip David Copperfield may be taking to Korea, as well as addressing your comments for the question of the day.
Tonight we are happy to announce the release of FIVE brand new products. The first of these new releases is something we are very excited about – DeckONE v2.
They were called “the Porsche of playing cards.” They were designed by Homer Liwag. And they sold out in record time. Tonight, they’re back! The box looks like it’s made of solid steel. And the cards are durable, smooth, and crisp.
We’re proud to announce that DeckONE v2 is now available. The second edition printing is very similar to the first, but we made several improvements to the tuck case design to make it look even MORE like real metal.
In simplest form, playing cards are functional art. We work with the best designers in the world to bring you the most captivating designs. And tonight, we offer those same designs in two new formats.
But that’s not all – we took the words “playing card art” literally – and pushed it to a whole new level.
They were featured in the Minnesota Gallery of Art, and now they can be featured in your living room.
Tonight’s installment features an inside look at Musha Cay, the private island of David Copperfield. We announce and congratulate the two newest members of the David Copperfield creative team, highlight the latest Magic Themed episode of The Simpsons, read your comments to last week’s episode and much more!
Want to be featured in next week’s episode? Leave a comment on tonight’s episode, make it witty, and you may be on Episode 16! Of course, you can watch all past and present episodes of The Insider on the official Insider Page!

I grew up with a deck of cards in my hands. Short of an old t-shirt from high school that I continue to wear, and aside from my friends and family, it’s the one constant in my life from the time I was 6 years old to today. That experience is shared by many of you reading this.
The United States Playing Card Company has been around since 1867. That adds up to 144 years today. In its first 50 years, hundreds of new back designs were created. This is a company with creativity at its roots – innovating at record pace not only in design, but also in quality. They have been and continue to be the best.
From the beginning, our goal at theory11 has been to respect tradition while moving forward into the future – innovating, creating, evolving, advancing. I’m proud of our team for staying true to that promise, working around the clock to push the envelope. Whether it’s with magic, cardistry, gambling moves, playing cards, or Shake Weights, we work hard – and we have a great time doing it.
With that said, I’m excited to announce a strategic alliance today with the United States Playing Card Company – makers of Bicycle, Bee, Tally-Ho, Aviator, Maverick, Fournier, and more. Details of the announcement can be found below, and you can see the first fruits of our efforts right now on the Bicycle YouTube channel (featuring Daniel Madison, Michael Herp, Andrei Jikh, and cinematography by Homer Liwag). There will be much more to come.

It’s a monumental achievement, and it was made official and announced tonight. Chris Kenner (executive producer, David Copperfield) hired Calen Morelli and Blake Vogt this past week to be the newest members of the David Copperfield team.
I am not sure of their exact position, but they will be working alongside the existing, absolutely unrivaled creative team. This is an huge opportunity for two of this industry’s most fruitful young creators to continue their journey in working for and working with the most successful magician – and most successful magic creators – of our time.
Please join me in congratulating both of these dudes, as they deserve every bit of our applause. Discuss this theory11 news bulletin in the parallel forum post.
Only one week remaining between now and the deadline for submissions of the Cardistry Collaboration Contest 2011!
The Cardistry Collaboration Contest started back in 2008. Dozens of cardists from throughout the world aligned and competed in groups of two or more for a Grand Prize and a truly awesome title. The winning video showed everything we were looking for: originality, unique style, and great cinematography.
The winner of ’09 offered something we had yet to see – a laid back flourishing video that somehow translated energy, intrigue and punch with a very low-key soundtrack.
We hope the CCC2011 will be even bigger and badder than ever. You only have ONE WEEK left to submit your video! Check out all the rules and details HERE. Good luck!
Tonight’s installment of The Insider, the fourteenth episode so far, is a little different than normal. The lighting is different, the hair is gelled, the episode is longer and – well, that’s pretty much all that’s new.
