The artwork of this one is stunning. The ace of spades is one of my favorites, together with the Sentinels Ace. The back is pretty awesome as well!
I'd say the feel is exactly the same as Bicycle Rider Back cards so they're great in that aspect too!

Like many custom cards, people may not accept these at first when you try to show them a trick. Also, for cardistry these feel just about like a standard deck of Bikes to me so I would rather use something a little cheaper instead of using something fancy.

With that being said, I love having these in my collection. I have a bunch of custom Bicycle decks and these guys aren't lonely by any means and actually are the ones that I like to pull out and play around with when I'm on my own or showing off how 'cool' cards can be.

The art is awesome.

The pips and paint cards have darker reds and blues which just works as well as keeping the original Bike design so they feel familiar.

All in all, if you like Bicycle, theory11, or cards in general, for 5 bucks these are worth it.

I originally received the second version of this deck and was shocked to find that there was a lack of the double backer gaff card. After a brief discussion with customer service, I received the theory11 V2. I compared and contrasted the two decks and honestly must say that the Guardians are amazing. They have the same smooth finish you would find in your standard bikes, but the stock feels a little more stiff and it has a better weight to it. I personally like my cards to have a decent weight especially for cardistry and flourishing.

The deck is also very nice thanks to the darker colors. Unlike your standard bikes, these cards come with all of the colors darker, deeper reds and blues and the yellow is gold. Silver is added on the court cards.

All that is great, but what of the back design? Well the back design is honestly amazing. It is intricate and beautiful. The image of the angel with the staff is striking and the ace of spades is incredible.

In the end I would highly recommend this deck to any serious magician, collector, cardist, or poker player. They are of excellent quality and theory11 has the best customer service I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Bar none.

This was one of the first deck I ever bought from Theory 11, years ago. It still remains one of my favorites. The back design is reminiscent of the standard bike design but with a darker twist. I also love the darker shades of red used on the pips and court cards. One of my go to decks for magic tricks.

This deck's design and overall look is amazing. The box really gives you a preview of the awesomeness inside. Once you open the box up and look inside, you see a great deck with a lot of really good looking cards. The court cards have a really nice color scheme and the ace of spaces is just sick.

Although the look is nice, if you're looking for handling, this deck is no different than a regular rider back. It has air cushion finish, and the stock is just a little bit thicker, due to the color.

Overall, this deck is worth getting for collectors and magic performers, but for flourishers not so much. You'll feel the same quality as a rider back.

These cards are pretty sweet except for a few things. The box is not stellar, but it is enough to satisfy me. The design is decent. It is a little bit too dark for me, but T11 managed to make that look good with the theme. With the handling, the stock is pretty good, but they start to clump up pretty quickly. I would recommend just getting a couple of these - not a brick.

Having this deck for over a year, I've never shared my feelings about it. So... here you go?

Design: The design is pretty much genius and when I first got this, I looked at these cards and I knew I wanted these forever. The design gets a 9/10.

Handling: The handling is pretty much Bicycle air-cusion finish so it feels good in the hands. It does well for both magic and flourishing so I give this 9/10.

Ace Of Spades: The design for the Ace Of Spades is pretty much the highlight of the deck and a steal, if you have one of these decks but it's old and worn out and you need to throw the deck away, keep the Ace Of Spades. It looks like it has wings on it or it's on fire. The Ace Of Spades gets a 9/10.

Court Cards: The Court Cards look good as well. The only difference is that it's a darker color and a little bit grayscale. I thought they could have done more but I still love them either way so I give The Court Cards a 7/10.

Box: I love the box, I love how they made the words 3 Dimensional and that they bring back the older Bicycle card box design and put the card design on the back of the box. I give the Box an 8/10.

Overall: I love this deck. It really is a keeper and you should definitely add it to your deck collection. Overall, I think that it's a really cool deck and I give it an 8/10.

I am extremely pleased with the cardistry performance of these cards. They are some of the smoothest fans to create and they practically fall into position themselves. Unfortunately, this particular level of slickness is a bit hard to master for some of the more complex illusions. Get yourself a couple decks, they are fun.

This deck is awesome. It's one of those decks that you have to hold to realize the awesomeness of it. A friend got one in a previous order and when I held it, it was so smooth. The only reason I got this deck is that I'm a really big fan of Daniel Madison, so when I saw him playing with it, I got it right away. I'm very glad that I got it. The deck comes with a double-backer. The king of spades is my favorite, not sure why! Very smooth and an all around great deck, get it NOW! I'll order a full brick next time.

I will always have a soft spot for these cards for personal reasons. I think it's an amazing deck with an amazing design. What I like the most is that it's a durable deck. When I opened one up, it lasted me forever. Only thing (though minor) I didn't like is that the cards warped very quickly and were too waxy. It wasn't anything that good springing couldn't fix, but just something I noticed.

I accidentally placed this deck on a spot of water. The water seeped in through the edge of the cards, making a very noticeable color change on the edges of the cards. This never happened to my regular bikes. I don't see how people can prefer guardians when they are so much less durable than other decks.

The cards themselves are superbly designed and have a high quality 'cushioned' finish/feel. After seeing Monarchs (also sold here,) I just wish the box was as nice.

I won the guardians in a school magic competition. It is a realy cool deck. The box is much thicker than the other decks that I own. The joker looks awesome, but it looks the same as the back of the cards. The ace have an angel wings design which makes it blend in to the guardians theme. They have a nice air-cushion finish, maybe the best. The only downside is that it doesn't have a barcode reveal and a joker reveal. But overall is an AWESOME deck to have.

I've got all three versions of this deck: T11's v.1 and v.2 plus USPC's version of the design - that's the one that's been making it into all those mass-market chain stores like Books-A-Million and Kmart. I've made this one of my "staple" decks - a deck I buy in multiples and carry frequently. I'm wary of using a limited edition as a staple deck, but this doesn't appear to be the case with Guardians.

I just pulled out a deck that's a few months old and has been in the pockets of my coats/vests for a few months (inside of a basic deck clip, not a Porper). They have the same slip and glide they've had since day one. They handle a shade or two better than standard Bikes, which already puts them head and shoulders above most of what's on the market outside of the limited edition decks.

Perhaps I should get to the "meat" as to why I like them enough to make them a staple of my regular performing collection. The design is reminiscent of the Rider Backs they were based on, but with the volume turned to 11. (Could that be where "theory11" got its name?) I mean, instead of chubby cherubs pushing bike pedals, you have smiting angels, wings spread, spears aimed at the wicked. The art could be on a heavy metal album cover! They have the cool factor of a black deck, without the annoying edge damage that makes black decks look old before their time. Let's face it - full-bleed printing looks very nice out of the box, but it doesn't hold up as well in the real world, and full-bleed on one side is the kiss of death for a number of good card routines. (And yes, the hidden one-way marks are handy - it was a few months before I discovered them.) It's just a hint industrial, just a hint dark/Gothic, and not so gonzo as to be off-putting. The deep red color, combined with the dark blue and gray on the face cards - it's all familiar and recognizable to your spectator, but a little higher on the cool factor scale. Trust me - the Ace of Spades is a bit strange to some at first, but it really grows on you. I mean, really - the dark wings of a falling angel? I can't recall seeing a more unique and intriguing concept for an Ace that looked so solidly a part of the overall theme.

I only wish for one thing: if the deck back was available in at least one other color, these would be excellent cards for poker as well as magic and XCM. I wouldn't go for white - the dark aesthetic calls for something far less bright, like a dark gray, deep indigo, crimson red, forest green or lush violet.

The first edition Guardians were the first deck of custom deck of playing cards I ever owned. They looked amazing, but I felt that they didn't handle quite as well as other cards I've owned. While playing poker with them, after 30 seconds in the summer sun, I watched them warp out of control, and I retired them.

I ordered a deck of v2's after reading countless positive reviews. As I took them out of the box, I noticed that the box design seemed lighter than it used too, but the card designs had a much bolder black. The appearance of each card, especially the ace of spades, was more stunning than ever. And yet, the v2's are, like their predecessors, very prone to both bending and warping.

These cards are awesome! They handle great and are good for any flourish. The artwork is cool and is a nice way to remake the traditional bycicle back. The ace of spades is also really eye catching. It would be cool if the faces of the cards were black too-but all in all, these cards rock.

I like these cards. The artwork on these are AMAZING. I love the looks of them and use them almost every day. However, right from the box these cards handled poorly. I have heard very good handling stories on these cards. Another thing is that I did not purchase these cards directly from Theory11. I got them at K-Mart, so that could be part of it. In the end I still love these cards.

theory11 Bicycle guardians cards were my very first purchase from the website, and are still my favorite one. The cards fan beautifully right out of the box. I know this isn't saying much, as every deck does this, but they become so much more beautiful when you perform this action. The added touch of the slightly darker red pips and the silvery gray around the court cards as opposed to the normal brash red and yellow really lend an ethereal quality to this deck. I was so happy with it that I was crushed when I couldn't find the deck after months of use. I will most likely be buying another one - or two. Probably two.

This deck is simply amazing. Im hoping to be getting more soon just because i love it. I have had this deck for over a year now. It's so cool. I love the design. I love the ace of spades. I love the colors of the face cards. They still glide like they're brand new. There great for magic and flourishes and they fan amazingly. If i could, i would give them 10 out of 5 stars.

The BEST of the best, I've been using this deck for 5 years and I do flourishes every day in the desert heat and it is still very smooth. I strongly disagree with D. North America because it recovers from bends extremely well because I love to do the pressure fan and the lepaul spread and it is still very smooth and straight. Nothing new with the feel, as far as really good cards go. So a great feel, but you've seen just as good. So the only reason to get this deck (which is still recommened) is for the designs which is still pretty cool. Personally, i think Centurions and Sentinels are a bit better as far as looks go.

After recieving these cards through the mail, I just couldn't put them down. Their artwork is phenomenal, and I discovered that they are actually one-way cards, but the difference is so subtle that a trained eye could make good use of it by utilizing the classic find-a-spectator's-card with a one-way deck trick. Their smoothness is great, and the fan created by them looks amazing. I love them and have never regretted buying them; the look on spectaotr's faces when I first pull them out is worth the price of the deck alone.

This is possibly one of the best decks I've ever handled. The artwork is gorgeous and it has possibly the best looking Ace of Spades I've ever seen. My only complaint is that they aren't good for preforming tricks for lay people because there's a strong chance they'll be suspicious of a deck they haven't seen before. It's great for preforming for other magicians though.

These are great. I was sitting around at my local Books-a-Million, and i thought, "why don't i look around for some cheap cards?" Mostly because I used my centurions so much they had practically been reduced to rags. So, to my surprise, i found a rack of Bicycles, and to my bigger surprise, i found Guardians! These are my first cards from theory11, and I must say, I am very impressed. Although at first I worried that they would be just regular Bicycles but with a different design, I was proven wrong the instant I held them. The stock is nice and thick, and the finish is pretty standard but good enough to flourish and do anything you want to.

Overall a great value - and a valuable tool when learning card magic.

The best cards I have ever used in my life. They have a great feel and the look is amazing. The effect it has on people when you pull this deck out of your pocket is amazing. People are awestruck. It adds an almost "mythological" feel to them with the use of the angel wings and such.

Buy these right now. Seriously. They feel so good. I took them out of the box and they were ready to go. They didn't need "breaking in" like other decks.

The back pattern is chilling. I love the muted tones on the face cards and the darker, deeper reds on the red index pips. I bent these out of shape pretty well and with a few springs in the other direction they were back to normal.

These cards are like a god... I have never seen such great quality and design in card before. For god's sake, they must of spent days on just the Ace of Spades. These card fan like butter. They are just amazing.

I am not an amateur or professional magician. My interest in cards is a mix of historical appreciation, production specs, printing, quality, design salience and just for the fun of flourishing and keeping my hands and fingers nimble.

theory11's Bicycle Guardians are absolute gems. The deck box has beautiful, subtle design elements. The deck itself is all that you would expect from Bicycle and much, much more.

The wide white border is great visual attractor. The back design is apocalyptic-- reminds me of a post-modernist William Blake or a contemporary spin on an Albrecht Durer woodcut. You can take your magnifying glass to this back design and find all sorts of superior, subtle detailing.

The faces are white (as noted elsewhere, a very savvy design choice). The contrast between back and front works beautifully. The deeper red on the pips and the absence of yellow on the suit cards, along with the addition of silver/gray is inspired. The Jokers are genius, pure and simple. Another nod to William Blake-- radiant and dark all at once.

The Ace of Spades, sometimes maligned in these reviews, is perfection. It has an Angelic look, but it also has an avian, organic, breathing quality - a living creature. And like many innovative pieces of art, it also seems to emerge from that borderland between twilight and sunrise.

Quality: top marks. They flourish with finesse. I bought 10 packs and could not be more pleased. theory11: what's next?!

The "Guardians" are awesome looking cards that handle very well. I like a "Bicycle" deck that has been modified. Hope to see more card designs in the future; and also make a t-shirt with the Guardian Logo. That would be cool. Keep up the good work.

I don't usually take time to write reviews on anything. I don't have the patience for it. However, I must say that I'm very impressed with these cards. And, trust me, I've seen all the others (Ghost, Black Tiger, Viper, Vintage, etc).

I just can't put these cards down. Today I didn't get anything done because I kept playing with these damn cards. This is not true about the other custom decks that I've bought. I love the fact that the integrity of the faces has been maintained, while the backs look superb. Total opposite than the other custom decks.

I hope someone from theory11 is reading this because I hope to God that they begin to make matching gaff decks. I'm not counting on it, but I sure hope they do. I'll be honest, there is one deck that rivals this one, and it's David Blaine's Split Spades deck. Trust me, this is not just another custom deck. This deck stands out above all the others. These cards are great! As soon as I started fooling around with these, I noticed that they handled and felt significantly smoother than your average sand paper edge bikes. And the backs... the artwork on the back is worth the price of the deck alone. Beautiful. Breathtaking. Pure Magic. These cards get great reactions.

In addition, the team at theory11 did everyone a HUGE favor and included a double back card. This is such a great, helpful feature. I also love the Jokers, which depicts a rather merciless looking angel with his spear poised above a helpless soul. "Don't even think about getting up" is right.

As much as it pains me to do this, I took away a star. The reason behind this is the ashy silver color on the face cards. I wasn't too stoked on that look, especially on the red face cards. I hope that theory11 makes a second edition and cleans that up; but hey, it might just be me.

Regardless, the cards are wonderful. If you like to play with the finest quality and see the finest art, this is the deck for you. In fact, I don't even do magic anymore. I just sit in my room and look at the portrait on the front of the card box. :)

In conclusion... GET THESE CARDS (a six pack at the very least).

Simply amazing. The shipping was amazingly fast and the cards are fantastic. Without doing anything, they seem to dance in your hands. I've been up to 3am doing nothing but handling these cards.

The springs are fantastic. LePaul spreads require no previous working. Fan, spring, spread, dribble, produce, faro, or anything else right out of the box. I'll never throw away this deck. If it gets too old, split off the back and use the Guardians to decorate anything you wish.

The box is great and has a nice mysterious look to it, not to mention the nice 11 on the bottom. Check out the Dan and Dave Buck video again and everything on it will make sense (the hidden images).

My hat comes off to Lee and everyone else behind this wonderful project. They have really come up with something great here.
