david blaine // Split Spade : Lions Playing CardsFor the past several months David Blaine and his production team have been carefully crafting the next generation of his Split Spades deck - The Lions. The deck features a level of intricacy never before seen in playing card design, and David himself experimented with the feel and finish until he was 101% satisfied. The Split Spades design is iconic - there is an elegance and a level of intricacy among each element of the core design. The Ace of Spades design (and the box design) are all new, featuring two-way images and hidden text. These features and other revolutionary design components unite to form a deck that is unlike any other. Not only are these the best looking edition of the Split Spades, they are the best feeling ones as well. The entire DB production crew as well as theory11 put these decks through extensive trials over the past week. Dan and Dave, Jonathan Bayme, Dan White, Daniel Garcia, and David Blaine himself all came to the same conclusion: these feel amazing. The finish and card stock is unique and completely new to the Split Spades. Not too thick, not too thin. The focus was to produce a deck that handled well and - just as importantly - lasted. And after brutal use from the streets of New York to the deserts of Las Vegas, every single one of us was blown away by the look, feel, and finish of the second generation Split Spades. And boy was I wrong, wrong, wrong. I've handled the original Split Spades and they, to me, were the best cards available for quality and design. I bought a bulk thinking they were irreplaceable. Then, what happens? I open up my Split Spade: Lions and everything I thought was... isn't.
By Jack from Decatur, GA on 04/26/08 These cards are wonderful!! True the design and little hidden text bonuses are pretty cool but the stock and the finish are phenomenal. They are about as thin as the first SS's but the stock is stiffer.
