This is the most clever gimmick I have ever seen. It has unlimited applications. It's also extremely easy to use and you can start using it as soon as you get it. The DVD isn't the best though - it gives some good ideas but I don't think it was even necessary. Overall very good, highly recommended.

THE EFFECT:

By itself, "Portal", the effect taught on the DVD (created by Dan White), isn't very powerful. You will get good reactions, but the audience won't be amazed. They'll think there's a gimmick.

The good thing is when you start to create your own routines. Create an easy "card to mouth", add SMOKE, and it will be awesome. The audience will be asking themselves two questions: What's that f*cking smoke? How could he make my card appear in his mouth? That's when the good thing starts!

THE GIMMICK:

I can't say too much of this, but it's a really clever gimmick. You can't imagine what it is. You don't need to have it concealed during the entire effect and your mouth can be examined immediately after the puff of smoke comes out of your mouth. Nuff said.

THE DVD:

I think that 21 minutes is not enough. Not a lot of details given and just a routine taught. Some additional ideas are given for you to develop them, but it's still not long enough. The quality is amazing though - just like any other T11 DVD.

CONCLUSION:

Even if the effect by itself is not amazing, with some creativity you'll create a miracle, and I think $50 is not too much for this, even if the price would be cheaper if instead of the DVD some written instructions were given.

Hands down the best utility device. Smoke can be adapted to any routine you have been performing with. For me I use it when I perform one coin routine to make the coin vanish.

I have recently received this trick and at first I was very skeptical because witnessing the trick, it looked highly impressive and a true magician tricker! Don't be put off by the price - with all the work that has gone into it, it seems like a bargain once I obtained it. The one thing I love most about this trick is it is not limited to just card tricks or just street magic. With good imagination, it can be adapted into any genre of magic.

Quite obviously the DVD quality was next to nothing. (amazing as always t11) Dan White went into great depths about the trick giving you some brilliant routines and the ability to create your own. The gimmick itself holds no suspicion whatsoever, being cleverly disguised as a common utility used by all magicians, it is practically invisible. It is also top quality. This trick is perfect for any magician from beginners to pros. It is worth every penny and I highly recommend it.

Smoke is an awesome piece of magic which will just leave your audiences in a state of bewilderment. It is very likely your spectators will not have seen anything like this before. The best part about this is that it is 100% practical. Carry the gimmick on you all day and perform on seemingly a moment's notice.

Even though Smoke is an amazing piece of magic, it is very limited on where you perform this. You don't want to be performing this for children (since it can be seen as promoting smoking), don't perform this in bars or restaurants, since people can easily think you're smoking right in front of them (which can possibly offend them).

But overall, Smoke is one of my favourite things to do in the right type of environment and it is almost guaranteed for awesome reactions

I held off on buying this trick at first but then I decided to go ahead and buy it after seeing a bunch of great reviews for it! A while ago (around a year or so) I bought it and this is the effect that I take with me everywhere! It has unlimited applications, this effect amazes any spectator, and is pretty much undetectable unless you know the method obviously. Any intermediate level magician looking for that one trick to amaze somebody all the time then get this. I hear he is working on a v2 of this and I really hope it is going to be for sale! Really great effect. The possibilities are truly endless. I don't actually perform Portal (the routine taught in depth on the DVD) but have come up with a number of great uses for it in a variety of effects. The gimmick is very versatile and easy to use. The DVD is the great theory11 quality we've come to expect. Although pricey, this is absolutely worth is as no matter what your experience level, you will use this.

At first when I saw the price I wasn't really sure. But I have had this effect for over a year now and it is simply brilliant. I use this for all sorts of routines. I have even adapted this to an ambitious card routine! This is a must get for ANY kind of magician, whether you're stage, street, close up, or whatever just GET IT. I just LOVE this gimmick! It's so cleverly hidden it's actually invisible. It's very practical and works like a charm. It can be used for a multitude of effects - your brain will go crazy working out an outstanding unique effect. The effects shown on the DVD are not really my taste, I had to find my own and work out a better misdirection, that's the only reason why I don't give it 5 stars.

On the other hand, that's also the beauty of it: Smoke is a great gimmick - and you can take it and create an effect that fits your style. If you do you will get huge reactions from your audiences. I highly recommend it.

I used to be a card magic purist, until I saw this. SMOKE is applicable with almost all forms of magic and is really versatile if your imagination let's it self run wild with this effect.

SMOKE is incredible and Alan Rorrison has really outdone himself this time. it truly is able to be done right under the spectator's gaze. It's easy to do as well, which leaves a lot of room for creativity or presentation which could really do good for all of us.

This is by far one of the best effects in modern times. This is one of those effects that will be a reputation maker for both Alan and any magician using it. I have not put this down since I got it. The DVD is very basic but the ideas are amazing.

This is THE best buy of the year. I can honestly say that this is the best utility device that I have ever purchased. The uses for it are crazy. I sat at home all night thinking of hundreds and hundreds of different thing you could do with it.

I also must admit that I have performed this trick about 200 times in front of my mirror, just to see smoke come out of my mouth... and I've only had the trick fopr a day and a half. I think I may be addicted to this trick because every hour I think of a new idea, so I have to run to my room, get the device, and try it out. I am 110% satisfied by this trick, and you will be to, all you have to do is hit "Add to Cart."

Definitely worth the money. It amazes every time no matter how you present it. Sometimes I will just use it to enhance a vanish or change, but have been working with other possibilities for effects based on the gimmick.

I only wish the DVD came with more effects and ideas because I don't really like the ones on it. You should not buy this so it can remain as much of a secret as possible.

I have been doing magic for around 12 years and I have numerous tricks from all the magic site and stores. I have worked at multiple stores and am a street magician I am not a fan of complex tricks or gimmicks. I actually hate gimmicks and use none in any of my tricks because I find them impractical. I am my hardest critic as well as my parents, but this trick is absolutely incredible.

Something to point out is that this is not one of those things that you can only do certain effects with, this gimmick gives you millions of possible effects you can do and it can be incorporated into different types of magic and effects.

Now as for the gimmick only one word, AWESOME! The gimmick is something that will not only last you for a long time to come, but something you can put into almost any your routines. The refills that came will last you for a long time, that all depends you and how you use it.

I got smoke ~2 hours ago and I've been psyched to get it since the new site came out.

I opened my package and examined the contents and thought the gimmick was missing. Then it hit me.

Wow, what an ingenious idea. I was so stunned. I watched the dvd, learned the effects, and find that this is so simple to perform. I performed for some people around my condo and they were stunned. I probably did it twice in a mirror and I was set. There is NO difficulty with this trick and it is a complete utility tool. I can see myself using this for many tricks. Coin vanishes and reappearances are at the top of that list as this gimmick is perfect for that.

My last physical purchase from T11 was CRUSH, and to be honest I was fairly dissapointed, but got over it eventually and learned to love it. I had high expectations for Smoke and it met all of them. I love it. It's great.

If you're thinking about getting this, stop thinking and get it. I'm so happy I did. I don't order online much so I'll probably get a few refills and be set for, honestly, life. This is a great trick and the possibilities truly are endless. You'll kick yourself when you see how it's done.

Happy with the DVD. It has a few trick ideas and simple teaching from Dan White. I was disappointed that Rorrison was not in this himself, and that the dvd's contents were not extremely long, but Dan has quite a few ideas to bring to the table. Not all of these are card tricks or smoking tricks but tricks with things like coffee and whatnot. It's great to have so many ideas because it only helps you think of more.

With a bit of thought you have limitless applications with this. The applications shown on the DVD are really good. I have never been so excited to try something out until I got this. This is easy to use, practical, versatile and extremely fun to play around with.

The gimmick is extremely cool and it comes with refills to last you a while. If James Bond needed a device to do this effect, this gimmick is probably what it would look like. I recommend this highly.
