This was amazing. Of all the things I got from theory11, this was one of my absolute favorites. The teaching is top notch and explained in a very descriptive manner plus it is very easy to perform. I guarantee that you will get great reactions.

This is a pretty great effect. The gimmick is very self contained. Not only that, but it is also very versatile. I likey! Great work! My only complaint is a little issue with size, but that's not much to worry about. I highly recommend this trick!

That's a brilliant effect. At first, I thought it would be fairly simple, but then I saw you raise the empty pack with about 5 cards. Absolutely brilliant!

This is one of my go-to effects and my opener for my walk-around set.

Since this isn't magic; more of a test of skill; this is a perfect opener for any routine. The effect openly displays yourself as someone worth watching, ready to perform the impossible in every shape and form.

My only complaint would be that it isn't 100% angle proof; but it is very, very close. With simple audience management, the gimmick is pretty much invisible.

Overall, this is one of my favorite purchases from theory11 and I suggest you buy this now!!

This is a trick that almost works better as a test of skill than a display of magic. It's a fun puzzle that none of my spectators will be able to solve. Everyone seems to enjoy the effect but don't expect "WOW" reactions.

What makes this effect for me is the fact that in the second phase the cards are suspended too! It looks like real magic.

Ok, so I bought Vertigo and this is how I think of it.

Effect: Vertigo is an amazing balancing demonstration, I love both ideas, box on cards and, cards on box. 9/10

Price: 24.95 is the perfect price for this trick cause of how complex this trick is and also that there are bonus effects and additional tips. 9/10

Performance: Rick Lax's performace's are amazing and I love all the story's that go's with them. 8/10

Explanation: Taught in detail, Rick Lax's teaching is amazing and is always taught in step-by-step detail. 10/10

Quality: Amazing Theory11 HD as always. 9/10

Overall: Amazing trick by Rick Lax. I created a trick with this gimmick called EDGE in which you set the card box on the corner or edge of the cards! I love this trick, I love this gimmick, It's amazing, SO GO BUY IT!

This trick is a great effect, but it should not be $25. I watched the preview a few times and figured out how to do it. Overall, it's a good trick if performed well.

Vertigo is an awesome effect. It's pretty easy and if you perform it right, the heat will be on the cards, and the cards are all normal.

Let me say this: I'm always critical of magic tricks because of one criteria I judge them on the most - a kid's point of view. Because I work with kids, I'll say this: how ever complicated, complex, intricate, clever a trick may be. If they don't like it: they'll tell you.

So when I tried out Vertigo, I couldn't believe the reactions - THEY LOVED IT! I started out with a little balancing effect Rick teaches - using two forks and a quarter - easy. The key here is: they automatically realized they could do it; it's just simple, simple physics. But. *BUT* when I said: let me take this a step further, and brought out a card box and a deck of cards - the game changed.

What goes from something easy, that they themselves could do, to this - you have their attention.
I don't need to go into the performance, you have that awesome video above to see, but what the video doesn't show is: their reactions. People are completely floored. I agree with the video 100%, and I'll repeat, because it's completely true. "I have (performed) alot of tricks, but never on that has fooled people so consistently."

All in all, I give this the highest of marks. The effect is priced (in my opinion) a bit cheap for what you get. [It's a steal, really.] The teaching is crystal clear; nothing left out. This is probably tied as being my favourite effect purchased at T11, next to Smoke. If you're on the fence: buy it; you won't regret it.
Very few effects will go so quickly, and so seamlessly into you act like Vertigo.

Buy this now - you won't regret it; in fact, you'll be thankful you did.

Vertigo is one of those effects that makes you wondering just how Rick came up with something so cool, he is a genius! The DVD is well produced, easy to understand and lots of great ideas for you to work with! I'm already working on a lady/chairs levitation presentation with this, i'm coming up with even more as I type this.

Just buy this, it's absolutely brilliant! 9/10 (I found the set up a bit too long and the dvd too short, apart from that, amazing!)

I recently picked up Vertigo and i just gotta say that it is amazing. I perform it all the time, and it is my go to effect. Vertigo is an amazing plot and the method is extremely easy. Rick goes through so much in the DVD about how to keep suspicion off of the box, that it makes for the most perfect effect.

A story I can share is when i was with a few friends at lunch. Knowing i do magic, they said, "hey show us a trick!" Armed with Vertigo, i had a new go to effect. I fooled the hell out of them by the original routine presented on the dvd.

I then went into a card routine, but without thinking just placed the box down ON THE EDGE OF MY CUP!!! No one noticed until my friend pointed it out and said, "Ok you guys, i just noticed this, but this box has been here the whole time!"

That was the killer. No one noticed! It was a great little effect after the Actual effect was presented. The value of this DVD is superb, like all T11 products, and everything is taught clearly. This is definitely a good buy for any magician.

I'm actually writing this review because Rick Lax actually contacted me on my youtube channel to say a few words about this effect because I have a magic review channel and I reviewed his dvd.

Now I'm going to start with the cons(the bad parts) and then I'll end with some good news.

Now without giving away too much the cards itself are completely normal in every way, you could borrow a deck and still do this effect. Now with that being said the box, however, is NOT examinable. The box is gimmicked. That's really the only bad thing I can honestly say about this effect.

Now that being said I really don't have a problem with that seeing as, like Rick Lax says in the DVD, when performed correctly the heat will be on the cards, not the box BUT for perfectionists, like myself, sometimes we really want the box to be handed out. No fear, Rick does explain some outs; ways to hand the box out and be totally clean. Misdirection can be a beautiful thing. So for me, the fact that you can't hand the box immediately after the performance doesn't bother me.
Watch the performance of the effect when Zach Muller performed and you'll see what I mean.

All in all I am quite fond of these effect, it's quite fun! Go get it!

This is a stunning illusion. I do a lot of card magic and it's an AMAZING segue into any routine. It seems very impromptu because it just uses the deck and card case. I'm excited to see whatever Rick Lax comes up with next. This effect is easy to set up and perform even for someone who isn't a card magic whiz. I give the highest recommendation for this trick!

Although I am nothing more than an amateur magician and my repertoire is limited, I liked the look of the illusions on the "teaser" so much that I felt it was worth getting the video and taking the time to learn them. Surprisingly, in less than 45 minutes I was able to set them up and with a short amount of practice I was credibly able to perform them. While I agree there are some limitations to the efects, if they're used as a lead in to your normal card routine, my guess is that they will never be an issue. Personally I think a $25 price tag for the video and prop was worth it.

I've seen Rick perform Vertigo live and it looks just as great as on video. I really love what he's come up with. By far, the effect's greatest strength is the final phase with the deck suspended. Very cool. There are some killer applications for close-up workers and I'm happy to say it fooled me badly. Awesome.

I was sort of displeased with this trick in general. The dvd production was great. The trailer made the trick look amazing. The teaching was very thorough, but the design of the gimmick was not very good. I also did not like how the description and trailer were a bit misleading and did not tell or show you this, or how unclean the box is after the trick. Overall, the idea for the effect is good, but the gimmick could be redesigned. If you are a DIY kind of person, you can figure out a similar solution to these problems with some household items.

This is the first commercial release that Rick has put out. This is the first “balancing” trick (to my knowledge) released on T11. It’s a pretty unique and very visual effect. One of my favorite features of Vertigo is that the cards are completely clean; you can go right into your card routine after doing this, or hand the deck out for inspection. The box, however, is not quite as nice. You can not hand the box out to spectators to take a peek at. That being said, the way the trick is structured should take all heat and/or suspicion off of it. It’s displayed very cleanly throughout the effect as well.

Method: The method behind Vertigo is surprisingly simple, which is great. There’s no complex set up or overly complicated gimmick. You set the trick up one time and you’re good to go for as many times as you want. There aren’t any odd or hard to understand moves while performing Vertigo either. It’s a very smooth, motivated routine. Again my only complaint about the method is that you cannot hand the box out. This is not a huge detriment but will definitely stop me from performing it for those “tough-cookie” spectators. Aside from that small group this effect will blow people away though. There is a second method on the DVD that allows you to hand out the box but you’ll have to do some kind of switch to perform the second phase of the routine.

Angles: Angles here are pretty solid. As long as you don;t have people standing directly behind you or over your shoulders you’ll be fine. There’s about 180 degrees of good viewing room from your sides. In the performance on the DVD Rick has the spectator stand directly to his left.

Difficulty: The method and the way Vertigo is structured makes for a fairly easy trick; these are my favorite kinds of effects. It’s extremely visual, mind-blowing, and easy to do. When you don’t have to worry about the method or making sure you have some crazy difficult move down you can really just focus on the presentation and have fun with it.

Extras: Rick offers a lot of extra tips, ideas, and advice. One way he suggest presenting Vertigo is as a demonstration of balance rather than magic (if this suits your style). He offers two other pretty awesome, actual balance demonstrations that you can perform in any bar or restaurant. Rick also shows a few possible modifications to Vertigo depending on how you want to perform the trick, and a great way to do the routine while sitting at a table.

Overall: Vertigo is a baffling trick. Rick said that, in his eyes, it’s biggest strength is that it has fooled so many people so consistently, and I can see how this would blow a spectators mind. It made me speechless when I watched the trailer. The method is simple, the moves are easy to get a grip on, and it’s pretty versatile. I didn’t go into the teaching or anything like that in regard to the DVD because it’s Theory11. Their teaching is always thorough and top-notch. Like I said before my main negative with this trick is the box. But again, the spectators (hopefully) shouldn’t care about the box after the second phase. For me it just seems like a scrutinous spectator would want to check it out.

Vertigo sports a price tag of about $25 for DVD & gimmick needed. If you can see yourself performing this and like the idea, go for it. If you’re a little weary I would make sure you have a routine or a way to incorporate this with your style before you drop 25 bucks on a single effect. It’s a great trick, ingenious method, and very versatile but in my opinion a little expensive. Vertigo seems best suited to be an opener for a routine since you need to have the box out already and it’s quick & totally visual effect. It will catch your spectators attention and show them that whatever is about to come next is worth watching.
