"The art of magic is fast passing out of the picture in my opinion. Today the youthful magician cares little about the art. He want's to know how much it costs and how soon can he learn do it." (Linking Ring, Sept 1952)

Not a very happy thought, but seems to be the case with most young "magicians" of today, who just want to be "t3h awsome nu genirashin of majic!!1!!"

The very idea gives me convulsions.

"...like magic
there's a certain feeling you get
when you reel and you spit
and people are feeling your sh*t,
this is your moment and every single minute you spitting
trying to hold on to it
cuz you may never get it again"

(from the greatest magician ever) EMINEM haha

This quote basically covers everything I feel about when you perform, how you have to capture the moment.

“The magic isn’t in the trick, it’s in the [audience’s] eyes.”

David Blaine

The basic concept of his whole special, it's all about the spectator.

"For those who believe no explanation is necessary, for those who do not, none will suffice"

Dunninger

This quote, I don't know. If they don't believe wouldn't the explanation of the trick suffice? haha

"Nobody ever wrote a rule book on magic. Not one rule book."

Daniel Garcia

It reminds me that we gotta push the boundaries, break rules creatively.

"I don't think anybody can lay down exact rules, and anyway, every rule in any art can be broken! Rules can be broken, in any art." - Dai Vernon 'The Professor'

A quote I agree with most earnestly, love it.

I believe you're talking about the patter for Aaron Fisher's The Omen - "People often asten ask if I perform sleight of hand or if I do real magic. There is a very real difference between the two. Sleight of hand is fast fingers, consummate skill. Real magic is the work of the devil. Allow me to demonstrate - or should I say demon-strate?"

Keep in mind that that's just patter.

"oh what a tangled web we weave when we first practice to decieve"-Sir Walter Scott

If I recall correctly, the correct quote is:

"Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive."

A follow-up has been variously attributed:

"But when we've practiced quite a while, how vastly we improve our style!" --

sometimes after people see my show they come up to tell me they liked the show and i uh...what i'll do is reach into my pocket grab a handful of change and throw it at their eyes. its not nice and it doesnt make any sense.. but i feel its important to remain mysterious.
