I'm always interested in what people are performing. I always skip a trick and come back to it and find it the most astonishing thing in the world. I just want to know what effects you guys are performing as of late.

A lot of effects have come out recently and people are changing effects they perform or are adding to their repertoire. So what are you doing?

If you perform Street magic what is the first effect you pull out?

What do you close with?

If you want, go ahead and share what you would do if a large group (What effects do you go into, one after the other?)

What effects are you guys mastering but haven't yet gotten to performing?

If it's just performing when I'm out and about I usually do a signed coin bend, ring flight, Fraud, or just mess around with loops. I try to keep it as organic as possible. If they really dig it then I might break out some cards.

well if i go out to perform "street magic"
i will bring a deck of cards, and some forks spongeball, wallet

i would open with a pick a card loose and find a card
just someting short and serious to say i can do magic
then i will perform some other things
static (my 3 phase routine)
Sleeves
card to mouth 4 phase routine
fork bending
biddle
WOW
cornered
sponge balls
identity

thats a basic list but with what i bring i can do that.

then usually in this order:

Card to Mouth
ACR
TORN
Rubberbands
Nine In Numbers (original)
Coins Across
Bill Switch
CUW (if there´s any chance)
Pressure

if it is a stand up show or a private party...then it´s a lot different

that sounds like a lot of gimmicks for just "going out".

again, a lot of gimmicks. Am i the only one that like to travel light? Also this is like the third time ive heard of people carrying around forks. To me this is just weird, unnatural and suspicious and automatically puts the spec's on guard. Remember the golden rule, if you can borrow what your using to make magic, you increase its power 10 fold

edit.
just realized i didn't mention what i bring. For everyday purposes i carry a deck of cards, a couple rubber bands, and the appropriate coins, flash paper in my wallet and a lighter and a sharpie, all of which fits in two pockets of my jeans. If im doing something formal than i carry a bit more but not much, maybe a coin bend gimmick, thumb tip and a ring flight.

how many gimmcicks?
i have static (in the deck) and wow in my left jacket inside pocket with identity, and forks in my up left inside breast pocket, and sponge balls are in my right outside pocket
i work at a resturaunt and i think if im gonna go entertain its no problem to carry around some little gimmicks like wow, and forks. if someone could bend forks with their mind i think it would be a good thing to carry around.
why carry around cards? or have rubber bands on your wrist or even carry around coins or spongeballs?

im aiming to be as entertaining as i can and if that means carrying around 3 gimmicks and some forks. hell good for me
i work resturaunts so thats how i manage it, and everything works for me.

I like to open with Every Card's a Joker...an ACR-esk sequence where every card appears to be a joker...and then there are no jokers (idea from Henry Hay, handling is different from his book). I also open with Simple coin work, a one coin routine or c/s transpo.

I perform, regularly:
OOTW
Signed Card to Wallet (an original method, ungimmicked wallet)
"WonkaVision" (my handling and surprise ending of A.E.I.O.U.)
Crazy man's handcuffs (Ammar's handling)
Jacobs Ladder
C/S Transpo (working on full 4 phase routine with some different ideas)
Whack your Pack
French Kiss (a 1-way forcing deck can do wonders for this reset)
Ace Cutting sequence (also able to turn it into a routine if I have a table-ending with spectator cut-to aces)
Anate
Loki (fun presentation...have done it with coins instead of chips as well)
Control (not regularly, it's more like cialis, when the moment is right ;) )

Working on:
Inversion routine (in practice mode)
Triumph (mainly need a presentation worth presenting)
Also Revisiting all my old books, looking for Gems I might have missed
Looking for double signed card transpo, both in spectators hands...I've a few methods that are mocking me right now...

that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Carrying around :: (just casually) A deck of cards usually, coins (can always borrow), sometimes a sharpie.
Going to perform ::The above, sometimes two decks of cards, and rubber bands. I don't wear them on my wrist, I usually have them around my deck of cards (outside of the box).

i was more commenting on when your just walking around. You work at a restaurant, and as such i would expect you to carry around that while on the clock or heading to or coming from. But say your going out to eat with your girl or going to class, would you still carry that much? That was more my point, Mat was saying he carries that as he walks around or at least thats what i gathered and it seemed like a lot. A job is much different and i completely support and understand having those things for a job to have variety

I'm really liking this thread so far. It shows a lot of effects that are workers for the real world.

Here is my list of things I perform off the top of my head

The Biddle trick

My Ambitious card routine ending with Pixel

Carbon Paper

2 card transpo

2 card monte (just recently got into it finally)

French Kiss

My quarter routine (retention, coin to shoulder, and final complete vanish with my TKO The kaylor option) I carry my TKO everywhere

Stigmata

Watermark and Liquify

Stiff arm test (from the ROY DVD)

Sloppy Triumph

Dr. Fun

Extraordinary Proof

Fizzmaster

Naked Strange

Shuffling Lesson

Sinful

Holey Shirt by Joe Russell

Redline by Dan Hauss

Search and Destroy

Mr. Tea (free from sankeymagic)

Recap revisited

Disjointed and Freak (when I'm really feeling it)

Thumb tip bill switch

Spin

Stuff I'm working on as of now to get to performance level.

Tubular
3/4 coins across
OOTW
5 and 1 transpo
LIT
Fraud
Angle Zero

What I carry when I go out and perform:: I made a pack of cards I need for setup for effects, napkin in pocket for watermark, 3 quarters, 5 and 1 transpo in pcoket, bill in TT for bill switch, Chapstick, A bic pen, A sharpie, and a deck. It may seem like a lot but it's very little pocket space.

What I perform::
When I perform for a group I usually hit them with anywhere from 1 to 5 effects.

1st effect. My quarter Routine
2nd effect. 2 card transpo
3rd effect. Triumph
4th effect. Watermark

(This is my usual routine, and the effects change depending on what kind of area I'm at)

I'm also looking for the right coin bend for me, maybe I'll look into Psyche by Andrew Gerard

I'm trying to get a variety of effects to perform. I don't want to get stuck with the same kind of effects. If I were to perform for a group I would only perform a transposition type effect once. So I would either choose between 2 card transpo or 2 card monte, Stigmata or Liquify.

I agree when at school and casually walking around I ALWAYS have:
At least 2 decks of cards
a poker chip
and rubberbands (usually)

oh and I usually have a ring or 2 on :)
