Television Pilot

Hey everyone! This passed weekend I just wrapped production on an independent television pilot tentatively titled "52 Card Pick Up". I've been away from magic for a while, but that doesn't mean I don't love it. I've had an idea for a sitcom in my head for years and months ago I finally decided to get it down on paper. The film follows two absolutely jerk magicians and their endeavours at becoming the greatest magicians of all time but they constantly fail because they suck and are really big dicks.

We feature Crush from Theory11 as well as SAW by Sean Fields in the episode (as picture below).

It was a really fun shoot and I can't wait to wrap post.

We hope to pitch it to networks in the coming months... Here are some stills from the episode if you're interested!

Sounds like a show that will be amusing to magicians, and for lay audiences will perpetuate the stereotype of the jackass magician.

Also, I agree with what's been said before, make sure you've got TV rights for all of the effects you're doing. I'm fairly certain I remember Dan Sperry saying something about Sean Fields only allowing him to perform Saw on TV, but I could be wrong/that could have changed.

Thanks for the advice! This pilot, if ever sold (longshot), will probably never make it to TV. It would need to be reshot, recast, and probably rewritten. So I'm not incredibly worried about the performance rights as of yet.

In the pilot, one of the main characters, Alex, goes on the hunt for a new assistant for his stage show whilst his roomate Mitch copes with becoming a birthday party close up magician. I've infused many of the experiences I've experienced in my time as a magician and simply made them more ridiculous.
