When you ask about performers who are gentle. smooth and elegant, you are asking for subjective opinions. For example, I don't think the Buck twins' style is in the smooth and elegant category, but you think otherwise.
That being said, if you are asking about card magic, someone has to mention Michael Vincent. He has great skill with a deck of cards and he has an air of sophistication and elegance when he performs.
Ricky Jay is another performer who combines elegance and skill very deftly.
Also, many manipulators of the past had a very elegant approach to magic as a whole. Check out videos of Channing Pollock and see if he fits your requirements for elegance and sophistication.
