Card counting?

Not sure if this is the right section, but I'm wondering if anyone knows a good book I could pick up on card counting.

I don't know of a book, but there are TONS of online resources. I myself just started looking into card counting a while back. I played Blackjack in a casino for the first time and it sparked an interest. After some searching I started playing around with the High-Low (Hi-Lo) system. It's something sort of fun to play around with... but I would never see myself working hard enough to actually use it in a casino situation. Oh, and an afterthought, card counting is nowhere near as hard as it has been made out to be. Most people think you are really counting each individual card and doing insane equations.... It is nowhere near that. However, there are some systems that do make use of some complicated methods. Those systems are supposed to yield better results, but they involve more work.

Counting Cards also depends on how many decks are in the shoe (4 or 6) or if it is just one deck. There could be up to 5 people sitting at the table. Also keep in mind is everyone playing correctly? Are they hitting on 16's...consistently....things like that can throw off some things at the table and really irk others.

Are trying to learn this so you can impress your friends with it or so you can actually try it in Vegas casinos.

It could work nicely for your friends, but trying in Vegas would pretty much be impossible because they tend to have 5-6 decks in actions during most of their games and if you get caught, there is nothing stopping them from throwing you out and banning you from the place.

Try the book Knock-out Blackjack by Olaf Vancura and Ken Fuchs. Ken is the "K" and Olaf is the "O" in this system. It's easy to understand (they're good writers) and easy to find.

After reading that, you'll know if you want more or are going to drop the subject entirely due to the time commitment required.
