When you get rope, make sure it is magician's rope. It is easier to work with then regular rope.

Or grab some Tarbell, either the book or just get the rope sections with Dan Harlan there's enough there to keep you going for ages. It definitely served me well.
Tons of great resources have been listed and I will second Fiber Optics. Awesome material there for you to put together a solid routine that will blow people away.
