Does anyone here have any experience at all with a seamstress putting in custom pockets inside their suit coat? Not a topit, I know what that is and that's not what I mean. I'm trying to figure out what material works best and do's and don'ts of having someone stitch some custom pockets in my new jacket I bought.

any decent tailor/seamstress should be able to do it, I would ask them for advice on material since it can depend on what the lining and shell of your jacket are. The best advice is to know what you want in terms of where you want the pockets and to listen to the person doing the alterations in terms of whats workable and what isn't. Also if it's a nice suit that you are going to use a lot, don't cheap out with some random alterations place, go to a reputable tailor.
