Wow... the ace looks so unique and it's appropriate for the mariner theme.
Maybe just a little more improvement and I can see putting this one side by side with other custom decks out there. Good job!

I liked your first design more. The black one. Although it didn't look like a playing card back.

I don't personally like the idea of themed cards. Tally Ho's jokers, for example, are terrible. I also hate Bicycle's bicycles.

One of the best designs I've seen here.

The back design is super sweet.
The ace needs some work.

Overall, good job.

Peace.

Hi everybody,

I came to this forum when I went through my web site statistics. There was a thread about custom made backs and I loved all of the designs there.

This one is really cool. For all of you who want to see their own design made on real good quality card stock there are some good news. Usually it is impossible to print directly onto Bicycle cards without removing the finish. So the removing and reapplying of the finish after the print is very time consuming (and expensive)

I found a solution how to print directly onto cards without removing the finish. But these cards are not Bicycles as they are printed here in Germany. I call them Haicicles (Hai means Shark in Germany), they have another finish (water based instead of nitro based finish compared to Bicycles due to environmental issues) and do not fan that great like Bikes, but they have the same paper material (3 layers, same thickness, flexibility, size, corner roundings, linen structure etc) so that they could even be added to a Bicycle deck without getting noticed by a layman.

The drawback of the finish is now a great advantage as I found out that the laser printing can be printed onto these cards without removing the finish. So now I could easily save a lot of time when producing the cards, and that would make the cards much cheaper compared to the price of custom printed Bikes from me. At the moment I am producing blank back decks at the manufactury to have enough decks for printing the backs, so that I only have to print the backs and not the faces. The faces are the same like Bikes, only the ace and the Jokers are different.

I would love to print this design here and also the one of the other thread. Just contact me, they are so cool.

Wie gehts Card-Shark? ;)

This sounds really cool. What about the price of producing a deck like that?

Greetings from Poland.

I am still not sure about the pricing of the decks. It may be best to have a one time fee for bringing all things together and then for printing the deck itself. So a second deck would be cheaper than the first one.

Just as a thought. I will get the decks in the beginning of April and can then make some tests how long it will take to handle a single production. Perhaps it would be a nice idea to use these backs as a test candidate.

"The faces are the same like Bikes, only the ace and the Jokers are different"

It's funny because USPCC got exclusive trade marks rights for his designs so dunno about the "legitness" of the designs, but we're talking about custom decks so still it's all good.

Definetly looking forward to it!

You are handling the USPC copyright everyday when you play with your cards:

Just open a deck of cards, on the flap is their claim of rights: Ace of Spades, Joker, name (Bicyle), number (808), back design, case design and name of finish (Air Cushion Finish).

The rest of the faces without the Ace of Spades and the Joker are not copyrighted and used by a lot of playing card companies, unchanged for more than 100 years. All of them use their own Ace of Spades and Jokers as a trade mark.

Mariners

Hey guys thanks for the comments they are really appreciated.

I am agreeing that the Ace isnt the best i can do. It was a concept. Everything goes through a process before being accepted. I am mucking around with other designs from the more Navy specific to a more fantasy based design. Not sure if i will be able to complete a Version 2.0 of the Ace before i go to sea next but i will post it when i have.
