This time last week, theory11 posted a different kind of Saturday Night Contest. A different kind of challenge. We asked you to challenge yourselves, and tonight, we are excited to see the results.

Last week we saw some amazing challenge ideas submitted by members around the world. Some of you challenged yourselves to create your first flourishing video. Some of you challenged yourselves to perform every day for this past week. And there were tons of other ideas posted.

Tonight we will see how everyone did. This thread will remain open until 11:00pm EST. From now until then, we ask everyone who challenged themselves this past week to now post their results - whether that be in video, image, or text format - along with what your challenge was, and why you selected that challenge.

The member whose challenge stands out the most to our judging panel takes home tonight's prize. As mentioned last week, tonight's winner will receive a signed deck of brown Wynn's, and one of the David Blaine Split Spade Lions utilized in production of the official preview video.

Winners will be posted between 11:30pm EST and midnight, at the latest. Looking forward to hearing about your challenges, results, and experiences.

Okay, I challenged myself in several ways:
Create my own trick(s) and perform them and post the perfomance in a video. Also, to come up with a video that's different than the ones that are usually posted here.

I wanted to make three videos, with three different tricks. I did get two done and submitted them. The third I'm still working on and I don't think I'll have it done in time.

So I only have two submitted.

There's a problem, though. I submitted these two videos yesterday and early this morning, but neither one has shown up yet. :(

Is there something else I must do?

OwnerM,

Please post all videos for this SNC to YouTube, Viddler, or Vimeo and add a link to them in your post. If you upload them to the media section, we will delete them in an inferno of fire and ice and charge your credit card for $5,000,000. Seriously. We'll do that.

No we won't.

I'll do that right now.

....uhm..... How do you make an inferno of fire AND ice???? Wouldn't one cancel out the other.....?

Alright...

I originally said that I would be learning and performing some Cons....but decided that wasn't a good idea...

So me and my friend (He was helping out and learning too!) filmed a video last night at the local magic shop.

We tried to relate to magic by doing money stuff...so ENJOY!

Fire and ice, OwnerM: It's magic. And we can do that because we're magic. Really. Like Uri Gellar. Clearly this explains everything.

yes but can you predict what i have in these two envelops i prepared ahead of time

My answer: No!

I win!!! I answered the question correctly!!!!!!! :D

Here are my entries. There were supposed to be three but I couldn't get it done in time. Sorry. I will post it when I get it done. (Most likely tomorrow afternoon - rendering is a b**ch.....)

Anyway, my challenge was to come up with my own tricks, post my first magic trick (read: non-hypnosis) videos to T-11.

I wanted to make two different kinds: a performance kind and an interactive kind. I wanted to make at least one video that's different than any other videos seen on T-11. I thought interactive was the way to go.

The first one is the interactive one:

This a card prediction based on your answers to two questions about your personality.

The second one is my first performance of a trick I created. It was filmed immediately after work on Friday night. So I had to do it quickly and in one take.

The third one I'll post tomorrow so it won't be part of this contest. Sorry. It is also an interactive video.

Thanks for your attention, and please IM me if you want about this. I crave feedback. :)

I am a hobbiest. This week my goal was to approach people at my school and do magic for them. I have never done this ever because i am very shy, and i guess my biggest fear was rejection and failure...This week changed it all!!! I video taped it, only to find out my computer did not accept the disk so took pictures off my tv screen!!

First day of doing magic at school, and here i am after i approched someone outside to do a card trick.

As i said one of my biggest fears was failure...well i decided to perform for a teacher. And failed. Here are 2 pictures of me performing the effect,

This put me down for the rest of the day, as i never expected to fail. But it was a good expereince of failing as i did it the following day to the same teacher and now i am not affraid of failing! I dont know why, i just dont have that fear anymore!!!

Right here it was all worth it to me. To not have the fear of failing...i can approach people with no fear! But the week was far from over so had to approach more people!

Here i was performing for a kid and the teacher saw and joined in the fun..look at her face! She was stunned!!

That basicly sums up my week! At first, i was a shy guy, affraid of approching people because of failing and rejection. During this week i have become stronger with this...I am not afraid of failing or rejection. I relised people love to see magic and wont reject me and when i failed i got right up the next day and sucseded! I have no fear of those anymore, and can approach people!! Although i may still be a little shy, i am working on that to become more outgoing.

I challenged myself this week, and i feel that i beat my challange. I did better then my challange. Without Theory 11, i would have continued to stay shy and never perform. Because of Theory 11's contest i pushed myself to become a ...magician. You cant be a performing magician if you have no one to perform for. Now I DO!! I will continue with this next week at school as everyone loved it! I feel like a magician.

Finally,

I beat my goal! I can approach people with no fear.

I would like to thank all you guys at Theory 11 who made this contest! Without you i would have never challenged myself to approach people to do my magic. And for that i would like to personaly thank you. Even if i dont win this contest, i feel that this contest made me a stronger magician because now i have no fear of performing for people!

Next week i will continue with this. In fact, The lady teacher i performed for was running a show with different talents, and loved me so much she wanted me to be in it! It is in a couple of weeks and without this contest i would never have gotten this oppertunity!!!!! I cant wait, it is a dinner and show, which i am part of.

THANK YOU THEORY 11!!!!!!!!!!

Hi guys

First i have to say i didn't submitted my challenge to get the prizes but to show myself that i have what i need for being a real street magician. And i mean it.
I think this contest was great to compete because i got a lot of motivation with the prizes i will get if i actually win while performing magic to strangers.

Firstly i was really nervous about the performances and then i got a lot more ''guts'' to get out there and perform.

I performed for four groups and i have to say i enjoy performing to groups then just one person because reactions get bigger with comments from other people. And this gave me a chance to try out some new patters for some tricks. And some of them really do work better than just a normal non-interesting patter.

Bigger Finish(Jay Sankey): I performed to every group and tried out different patter and now i have one in my repertouire. I enjoyed when they saw the jumbo card with their selection.

Coin Bite: This is a must have if you are a street magician. The first words that come from the specators mouth was ''Just like David Blaine'' and then i said that i use the same toothbrush as he does. Got a lot of laughter and great reactions too.

Mouth Coil-Rainbow streamer(Do as i Do routine): First i thought this won't fit the streets. But i decided to try it out. It works great for street magic.

Stigmata: Had a lot of fun with this one. And if you use acting to build up the effect, you have nothing to lose. Great reactions with a ''Obssesed with Devil'' patter.

ACR: A must in street magic. Short and sweet with a great ending. I used Card to wallet routine i created and it played big.

So here are the things that i learned from last week.
1. Always introduce yourself to a spectator before going into the trick. This shows respect you have to strangers.
2. Never use no patter while performing(they will think this is only a sleight of hand kind of thing)
3. Try new things while performing the same trick again and again to different people. This helps you to decide what fits your style the best.
4. Build up the effect slowly. Make sure they think you have more than just sleight of hand. PATTER!!!
5. Listen to the spectators ''stupid'' comments on how do you do that and than use that comment as an answer to a question: HOW DO YOU DO THAT?

These are just a few things that i learned. Maybe they aren't all true for all of you but they worked for me and i will definitely remember this week for ever and use all these learned things in next perfromances. Thanks Theory 11 for this great opportunity.

Hope you will take some time and read this.
