Instead of a shimmed card you could get a magnetic card and have the + vs + or - vs - make the card push away from your hand when you come close. Its makes a really good haunted deck effect.

You answered your own question my friend... Practice. There is no such thing as short cuts when it comes to flourishes. You need to pace yourself and pick a few things to master so you dont get bored doing the one over and over again. Just go slow and find your hotspots with handling the cards...

Don't you feel you are leading them to count along with you? wouldn't that make them pay more attention? I think instead of saying card # 1, # 2 etc. You could call it out as first, second, third that way they are not counting the cards with their eyes their just listening. Just a thought.

Co-sign. Its a risk to pull that trick off with a PK ring. In addition its just a way better effect to pull it off with someone else's ring anyways makes it more of a WTF??? kinda effect.

Keep your hands clean at all times and dry as possible. I would say if you are learning alot of things right now your going to blast through decks for a little while. Once you know what you like and are good at them you will go through decks alot slower.

I would say do a color change trick which is really good for opening the audience because it strips there guard completely since the dont expect such a big change to happen. Do a Transpo trick of some sort. Do you only work with cards?
