    Anaesthesia

Not a bad performance, but please be very careful doing this because as Draven said, now days people will sue you at the drop of a hat if they get the chance. Performers insurance is a must for those of us who work quite a bit and are using spectators for various effects. Even then, I probably...

Cards to Pocket/Travelers Without a Dress Coat

The card from fly of pants is a very old gag that many use and definitely only with the right audiences. Sometimes people will take it a step further and ask, "Your card was a heart? That's weird because it feels like a "club" in there." Ha Ha. I heard that one from Kranzo who borrowed it from...

    Magic Castle Act

We did not have to send them any footage at all because he has been performing there for over 20 year or so. I'm sure there was some sort of audition or video he had to send in back in the 80's or 90's...ha ha.

    Magic Castle Act

Hey Toby, I've helped my mentor with his Castle act and the number one thing is your time constraints. I would time yourself / your act over and over again, however time it with some audience interaction as well. Even if you have to invite a few people to your home to act as an audience to...

    Best Overall Deck?

Andy, The reason you are receiving the comments that you are is because literally every week a new guy will come on to the boards and ask the exact same question. For those of us who have been here for a few years it becomes comically redundant. I'm not trying to sound mean but that is...

    Magic Performance/Class for elementary school

Keep in mind that virtually none of them will have actually "held" a deck of cards in their hands without dropping them or bending cards. You may want to consider bridge sized decks or if you are using standard size...maybe have them in pairs and split the decks in half. Just food for thought...

    A Merry Christmas Magic Video

Thank you for the video. That was definitely something to think about and I enjoyed it. Merry Christmas!

    ESP routine

Sorry Toby...I do not have any ESP routines to help you out with. I used to perform a stage version but for whatever reason it didn't hit very hard and didn't fit my character so I ditched it.

    Asi Wind

I'll have to watch this later on tonight. I saw Asi Wind at Magifest a few years ago and he was outstanding! He seemed very down to earth and friendly and funny.

    Rookie mistake.

I can't say I have done this yet because I am seriously OCD about my props case. I probably check and recheck all of my props and make sure that my gig case is in the vehicle like 3 times...ha ha. Yikes, you had to be sweating bullets man. I would have done the same thing. I would have either...

    Newbie from Arizona

What's up Robert? You've come to the right place. You'll enjoy Theory11 as we have a lot of fun members here that love magic. We have Saturday night contests with killer prizes and The Wire provides plenty of effects to choose from. If decks of cards are your thing....we have some spiffy...

    Where to sell/give away magic?

Hey Jacob, In the future please advertise your products in your signature portion, but do not start a thread about a product you are trying to get rid of. You can definitely sell magic items on ebay as people will find it. Also formula is correct in that a lot of magic clubs hold annual...

    Magic Contests... useful or not?

Interesting topic Luis. I enjoy watching contests, however, I have no desire to compete in them. My reasoning is that I do not wish to try to entertain a group of 200 magicians who are not viewing the routine for its entertainment value, but rather sitting there and saying, "That is dumb...I...

Very Basic Outline to a Show / Performance

And I wouldn't have expected anything LESS than that response from you Craig. Ha Ha. Well said, as your vast knowledge and experiences always feed our brains. I loved the examples you provided us with. Thank you.

Serious complaint regarding Victoria by Zach

Fellas, I understand how this situation has maddened some of you and I can relate because my wife fought cancer 3 years ago and one of my friend's wives is actually dying of pancreatic cancer right now - only has 3 months to live. It was a poor judgement call on Zach's part and he has...

Very Basic Outline to a Show / Performance

I recently stumbled upon some notes I took while attending a Duane Laflin conference back in October and wanted to share them with some of you here that may need or want a basic framework for a possible show. **A show should be built on the needs of your audience. Opening - This should be...

    Looking for a rope routine

Fiber Optics is very strong when the time and effort has been put in. I have seen many guys do it well at Magic Conventions and / or Parlor Shows.

New Here and just had my first performance

Awesome work my man. Any time you can take an opportunity like that and perform for audiences.....do it. Sometimes it will go great and other times an effect will go horribly wrong but you walk away with experience and hopefully grow from it as well. The more you perform for live people over...

    I'm one of those kids....

I've seen it before as well. I don't really think it is original. I've seen guys doing this just jamming around at club meetings.
