There is no best change. Choose a change that works in the context of the effect you are performing. The Clipshift is a great change - but sometimes, using one hand may not make the most sense. The card may not be in the right position, or the performance context might be wrong. The GOAT change...

Depending on what you need, you could go to a carpenter, a jeweller, a builder, etc. Find a specialist craftsman who works with tools suitable for what you want to make. Or, just go out and talk to them about your gimmick - and get their recommendations on how to make it.
