If you are using spectators, TRUST me the 45 seconds will be eaten up with them. You might even go a bit long. Audience involvement is never predictable.

Photoshop is what I use and then I hand code in certain thigs. Dreamweaver and Fireworks are now in the Adobe family, but I don't prefer them as they are not reliable enuff for me.

Something me and my friends do if you are using magicians soft rope - Tuck the ends inside of it self. They are rounded and look nice. You could always do what Tommy Wonder suggested and dip them in collodian.
