    Ego Change Routine

It's an improvement but still needs a bit of work. The way you're turning it over is quite close to a Strike double but the grip you're using looks really weird, try and loosen up a bit and hold it more naturally instead of pinching it by the edges.

    Ego Change Routine

I know it can look passable (certainly better than in the video in this thread). I did it like that myself for a while but it never really looks justified. If you have to do a series of lifts in fairly rapid succession then it looks really weird, there's just no reason for your thumb to keep...

    Ego Change Routine

You can't compare the double lift performed in the video to the DBD. The DBD looks purposeful, it looks like you're stylishly displaying the top card so the action is motivated, this also applies to doubles such as the push off. However, when you mess around at the back and handle it awkwardly...

    Ego Change Routine

The Ego change itself was performed very smoothly but there's some other things that I think could be improved. Firstly, stop messing round with cards so much, all the fans and dribbles are annoying to watch, it took nearly half the video to show a card and lose it in the deck. Your double...

    Float

He's posted an obscene amount of videos, many need a lot of work. He seems to have little interest in actually perfecting any routine. This is not a good approach to magic. It's impossible to learn so many routines well in a short space of time and certainly not possible to be constantly...

    Packet trick sleight...

I think the Asher twist move would definitely be the cleanest way of doing this. A simpler alternative might be a half pass and some form of false count to move the card to the centre.

    Magic and Horror Films

This is a very interesting subject, 2 totally different things I would never have considered comparing. I agree with you on most points, particularly on timing and suspense. The only point I really disagree on is gimmicks. It doesn't matter how the end result is achieved, it's the audiences...

    Possible New Trick

I didn't know these were submissions, I assumed the Tom Issacsson and Dan Hauss either went to T11 directly with these or were asked by T11. Anyone else confirm this?

    Great sleight

I agree, I posted something very similar a couple of days ago (and several others agreed with me) but he's obviously ignoring it. It's not just making T11 look bad it's also really selfish, other people's videos will quickly be gone because this guys posting so many, must be like 15 of his...

    Possible New Trick

http://www.theory11.com/submit_a_trick.php It's going to have to be something really special though, I don't think they've accepted a submission yet.

    ClipShift Video

It looks like you performed the sleights very well. My only criticism would be that this isn't much of a routine, it's just 2 different cards appearing. I think you could be a bit more creative.

    Bridge Size

I don't use bridge size for many reasons. Although some sleights may be easier, what happens when somebody hands you a poker size deck to work with? You're going to have a lot of trouble doing some of your sleights well. Also, almost all gimmicks and gaffed cards are in poker size, while I...

    Ultimate Showdown of Magicians

I think this is a bit of a pointless question really, I don't see the point of picking one. If I had to, I'd go with Derren Brown, his TV shows are always very entertaining and his sleight of hand is incredible.

Saturday Night Contest :: d+M roundtable discussion

    1) I see the term 'underground' being thrown around a lot around, I notice that you seem to use it quite frequently yourself. What does this term mean to you? Is it simply a marketing term or is there some real meaning to it, is it a genre of magic, or a way of looking at magic etc?. 2) I...

    theory11 :: 1-on-1 training - ELECTION by Chris Kenner : RELEASED

This looks like a great 1 on 1. It's a really cool effect. I don't know how original it is but i've never come across anything like it before, reasonably priced as well. I think i'll be getting this one.

Magic Vs. Illusion - Hedbergs Peak Routine

I think this is quite a nice routine, I certainly prefer it to the Dan and Dave routine. The first time I watched Hedberg's peak I found it to be more confusing than magical, it was difficult to follow what actually happened. I think by slowing it down you've definitely improved it.

    Friend's Surprise Party Tonight...

Fair enough, the only reason I advise against this is because you often get a list of random effects people arbitrarily come out with. e.g. 'Thread is teh awesome use it', with no real thought as to why it's appropriate, it's just the latest trick they've come across that they think is cool...

    Friend's Surprise Party Tonight...

If you could give a list of effects you perform regularly then we could maybe suggest the ones that would be the most appropriate. Even though you say you have a large number of effects and DVD's I assume you don't regularly use all the material and it's impossible to learn anything new in...

    Sometimes I get frustrated...

When you're new to magic your presentation can be quite bad and can make the effect boring to watch. When I first started I used to get a lot of 'eh, that's kind of cool' reactions. Now I get reactions ten times better often using the same effects I started with. Simply doing a trick isn't...

How many people see you perform per week?

I'd say I perform for about 30 people a week live, as for the internet I rarely post videos online, I don't see much point. Watchng a video on the internet isn't even close to seeing a live performance, there's no intereaction, no real connection, nothing that makes a performance truly...
