This might be interesting for the mechanics in the room.

I'm pretty sure this guy is lying unless he is actually Doc. Doc is a well known cheat who posts at the cafe and never have I seen him talk this way. And i'm pretty sure he isn't 70 years old. But I could be wrong. Ill talk to some guys but I'm pretty that guy isn't legit. He usually refers to...

    Drop shifts or Hops?

Yeah man. I mean I thought you meant making a routine demonstrating just that. If you want to reverse a cut, its probably easier to set a brief or a crimp and try and force a cut. Or even if that doesn't work just cut to your crimp. Also, if you cover it correctly hte Charlie Miller spin pass is...

    Drop shifts or Hops?

Honestly, I don't think there is that much use for hops or drop shifts, at least for gambling demos. I mean if you are gonna do gambling demos, I think it's much more impressive to control four aces during a course of a whole shuffling and cutting sequence than it is to just reverse one cut...

Mickey Silver Lecture - Best Retention Vanish EVER

I very much agree Josh, maybe not as much against the classic style of performing, but I definitely find a lot of entertainment in the style of SLydini or Eric Jones. They seem just very smooth, and refined, which is a great combination for a magician.

Consecutive Bottom Deal with full deck

Ah I'm sorry, I thought you said the video was recent. For grips, I have known people to say, and i have asked laymen myself by displaying both grips, that laymen don't find it odd at all. The Erdnase grip, or modified, is a great grip for bottom dealing because the diagonal pressure is very...

Consecutive Bottom Deal with full deck

I'm not trying to diss you or anything, but you wanted thoughts, but I don't think its virtually invisible. It's definitely better than a lot of other i see try to bottom deal, but i wouldn't say its invisible. I have some finger flash on my deal too. I have been working on it myself.

Where to learn The Side Steal from

Where did you see Irving do a bad side steal. I'm curious.

Consecutive Bottom Deal with full deck

That was pretty good for a first attempt I must admit. You have a some knuckle flash on the take and the get ready but that just comes with practice, and you nearly have to have knuckle flash for an Erdnase type push out.

Where to learn The Side Steal from

I would recommend Paul Cummins Side Steal DVD. That's where I learned it from, and I was recommended by Irving Quant, who does a killer side steal. But the write up in Card Control or ECT is also good.

    Pure sleight of hand?

Yeah Erdnase only wrote EATCT, although depending on who you believe Erdnase was it could be different. Most believe he was just a good card hustler, but Juan Tamariz believes he was L'Homme Masque, who was a Peruvian magician, who I think wrote other books. But there was only one book published...

    Twilight Transpo

Why use four kings? It seems like two of the kings never really go anywhere. And I understand that the ace under the box tranposes, but does the other ace really? You make it change but you show that the ace is still in your hand, so i guess that makes sense as it could have transposed with one...

    Pure sleight of hand?

I'd say some good books for purists would be Vernon Book of Magic and Paper Engine as mentioned above. I would also recommend, if you are lookoiong for sleight of hand that makes you feel awesome, either By Forces Unseen by Stephen Minch/Ernest Earick, or Steranko on card by Jim Steranko. Or, if...

    Palming

John Carney suggest that the palm should almost always been done on an offbeat. Stick with Royal Road for now and get Erdnase after you have put some work into RRTCM. Erdnase is great but Royal Road is the best place to start. You shouldn't definitely do the palm with at least some misdirection...
