As far as I know (and I could be wrong) it was a move called The Push-In Change first published in Kabbala. Marlo eventually came out with another method for it called The Locked-In Push-In Change in 1950, which I happen to think is better than the original.

I would have thought someone might have suggested The Click Change by now. The twirl at the beginning didn't make any sense because he had to regrip the card with the left hand to set it back in the right hand. Would have made more sense to use The Click Change.
