    Trick answers

I tried to speak in a concise manner, that is perhaps why i seemd blunt, but i stand by my words. This is an issue i feel very passionately about. I myself am a creator and developer of magic, not as 'flash in the pan' projects, but as a serious pursuit. When i make the big step into...

    Trick answers

Wow, you're all such great magicians, you should all go to FISM, you know that. and the guy who 'figured out' one of josh jay's effects, whew! are you the next Marlo or something?? I'm sorry guy's, but c'mon, you're dragging this thread into a pit of amateurish drivel. If you've got...

Me, a test drive, and TV exposure

Even with spelling aside, i can't agree wih your post. Unless your joking, of course. But if you're not, i think you definitely have the wrong idea about handling this kind of situation. The chap wasn't heckling, he had waited 'til i was done and was just informing me quietly, away from the...

You realise this is very wrong right? You can't just go around ripping people off, just save a bit of cash! I'm sorry if this sounds a bit aggressive, but you need to stop this. Of course we can watch a performance demo and back engineer the method. Sometimes it jsut happens automatically...

    Q&A - After a Trick

i tell them the truth- i taught myself and this is something i created a while ago. I guess this is a pretty universal thing to hear, as i also get it alot, but i guess, just be pleasant. Give the spectator the benefit of the doubt, they may be genuinely interested in the origins of your...

Me, a test drive, and TV exposure

So, i'm a very lucky guy. I live in the busy end of a city centre. So, when i need to test drive some new stuff, i literally have to walk for the grand total of about 3 minutes in any direction from my front door to a pub or bar where i can set my hands to stun! So i was at the bar, testing a...

    Lapping it up!

for me, with any lap clean-up, i always ensure i will have a motivation to go into a pocket after the lapping. a quick duck into the pocket on an offbeat to grab a pen, handful of coins, will allow a very bold, but very effective clean up. C!

    Your Tricks

i generally ONLY perform my own material. i have created around 40 effects, which run the gamut from cards to coins to whatever else, a mentalism effect, some ring on rope moves and some effective and quirky sleights. all will be released in the near future. C!

    Why coin gimmicks?

if you combine flawless sleight of hand with a confident touch with gaffs, and wrap that up into one lovely unit of deception, you will fry, anyone, anytime, anywhere... fact. C!

    The Next Question

when i was in my final year of high school (6 years ago! SIX!) my art teacher defined the word art as relating to a skill for which you have dedicated large amounts of study, effort and discipline. she defined the actual practice of the art as 'whatever you make of it'. i do consider magic an...

    Color Changing Stigmata

i mean, not only is it a fairly poor idea, i don't see why you would want to add another climax to the effect. it's brilliant as it is. C!

    Card controls

heavy question... for a control to top i use, variously... -riffle pass -gilles coutures automatic break control -double undercut -invisible turnover pass -flip flop plop (harris) for a control to bottom... -gilles coutures automatic break control (versatile!) -ackerman varies...

    Show me something...

you should get paul harris' art of astonisment series. huge tomes filled with over 200 effects and routines, beautifully constructed, to fit almost any scenario or performing arena. still the best purchase i ever made. C!

    Favorite ACR ending?

i have a few favoured finale's, all of which are designed to take the effect far away from the realms of traditional ACR's. -solid deception, by paul harris, is amaz-az-ing. -back in time, by spidey, published in 'talk about tricks', is an unbelievable descendant of solid deception. -my own...

Tore up, from the floor up!

i have nothing to add, my friend, that was a very nice reply, and i like your concept of 'the hand dance', though it sounds almost dirty, haha. so i understand, that a level of choreography is present in alot of work, coins included, but i think other area's provide alot more room for...

    Help with a gimmicked deck

hmm, sounds like it could be some kind of 'elevator' type gimmick, like gaeton blooms perhaps. for a visible rising card effect or something. C!

Tore up, from the floor up!

what a lovely response! hi, morgician, i appreciate your reply. the ceremonial nature in the performance of piece by piece restorations... i have been thinking about this for a long time. guy hollingworths reformation was one of the first card effects i fell in love with, about 9 years ago...

Tore up, from the floor up!

lovely essay, well written and with some very valid points. in my humble opinion, i disagree that piece by piece restorations are any more magical than a more traditional t&r, but thats just my opinion. i just think that a all-at-once fusion of the pieces is more mysterious, and perhaps more...

well the good news is, you have choices! you can... A) Do something stronger. B) Say "oh thats so embarassing, i could just die..." then stop your pulse. Maybe a tad too...rubbish! C) Walk away, in a dignified manner, and practice. HARD. C!
