Jason Ladanye At The Table Lecture

I haven't seen the lecture, but I have read Confident Deceptions and can concur that his work is phenomenal.

    Locating cards for card cheating

Look into riffle stacking; also, read Expert at the Card Table if you haven't already, or reread it if you have.

Going to London in late-December, suggestions?

As the title says, I'm headed to London around Christmas-ish time in December. Does anyone have any recommendations for magic shows/shops/etc I should see before heading back? Thanks for any responses!

    New £5 Note Magic

Huh, I'm in the US, but I never thought about how much altering printed currency could affect magicians. Unfortunately, I doubt the mint would take our account...

    How has magic changed you?

When I was getting into magic I struggled fairly significantly with anxiety and depression. While these challenges haven't necessarily been resolved, performing magic has made me more confident and built up my mental resilience. I can only imagine where I'd be -- or if I'd be -- should I not...

Anyone know anything about ShinSplint 2.0?

I saw this on Shin's website recently, and it looks pretty great. Does anyone have any more information on whether the trailer is accurate?

    Hey, so many options!

Counterfeit by Wayne Houchin is one of my all time favorite effects, it requires some sleight of hand, but it's not overwhelming by any extent.

Card tricks on the table to begin with

As David said, it would depend largely on your skill level. There are some great tabled effects in Dai Vernon's "Inner Card Trilogy" (along with a lot of stand up material). And if you're already comfortable with some fairly advanced sleights, you could check out Jason Ladanye's "Confident...

    Cutting the Angels Out

I'd suggest splitting, you'll get a much smoother card all around. It looks like the circle is just shy of 1 inch (2.5 cm.) in diameter, so you could order a 1" circle punch (about $5) to get a perfect circle.

    Expose needs a refresh ?!

I don't know, I think Christen does a great job with it. Tips could be cool, although I do like having it be just a quick update every week.

    Triage

The quality of the gimmick is great, the problem is that the way the gimmick works is very hard to not detect...

    Triage

It's virtually impossible to perform in person. It looks great on camera though.

Saturday Night Roundtable - Calen Morelli

    1) What is your very favorite magic act/effect? 2) If you could only perform three effects for the rest of your life, what would they be? 3) Who is your favorite magician?

Anyone else listen to music while they practice? what do you listen to?

I completely agree. Oftentimes you'll find very creative minds in this genre, which can help with your own creativity. Some of my personal favorites would be Sufjan Stevens, Simon & Garfunkel, and Jose Gonzalez

    Busking Tricks + Tips???

This is a tough situation to perform in, that being said, it can be done. A lot of the time when a younger person is performing magic, people will be very cynical. So in these situations, you're gonna want to blow everyone's expectations right out the door and fast. I've had the most success...

    Card tricks and silliness?

This is spot on. I've chosen to nearly entirely perform with cards, because that's what I love doing. And I've come across a lot of effects and 95% make no sense at all. I don't have a huge library of effects I perform, but I have 10 or 12 that I'm comfortable with, make sense, and perform well...

    Shaking?

Tyler is spot on with his response. Also if you practice your effects enough to where you feel like you could do them in your sleep that will also help reduce your anxiety. But getting out and performing more will definitely help ease that built up tension.

    Gambling Demonstration

You are absolutely right. People will hate on certain moves because it doesn't work for them, but if it works for you then absolutely use it. Everybody's hands are different and everybody's muscles are different, different moves work for different people. I personally found a lot of valuable...

    Flexibility and Strength for Hands

I've found that just practicing the moves I want to perfect has been enough to get my hands in shape. I've never really had to do any exercises outside of handling cards. Many moves can be an exercise on their own.

    Etsy for magic = Forged

I'd definitely be willing to support a Kickstarter, if you go that route. I'd also try reaching out to some of the big names in the industry, whether it's wholesalers like T11 or individuals with a large enough following (e.g. Shin Lim). If you could get even a single endorsement, it could...
