    Freaky Card Magic

Wholeheartedly agree. I'm generally reluctant to pay for an effect without at least a demo, but I'm glad I did. Worth every penny.

    Push-Through Shuffle practice

Thank you both for the excellent advice. I have been toying with different angles of riffle, as well as different amounts of interlace. Your quick comments have made a lot of difference in my success rate, and the Bicycles are performing admirably. I've been contemplating getting a Deck Shell...

    Push-Through Shuffle practice

I've been working to smooth up my push-through shuffle, and I've noticed a lot of resistance from the air-cushioned bikes I'm using. I can't tell if I'm just doing it poorly or if the finish is actually harder to slide cards with. Anyone have any advice?

    Freaky Card Magic

Hey all, Just wanted to ask everyone: What card effect has most freaked you out recently? Some of the effects that worked on me were Blind (Daniel Madison), Sympathy for the Devil (Paul Vigil), and Triple Coincidence (Juan Tamariz). Honorable mention for Ramjollock (Ben Earl), and...

    mem deck and past midnight

That's what it's called, a cyclical stack. I couldn't remember that term for the life of me. Nice job! Careful, I don't want everyone trying to claim my screen name anytime soon...(heh) BTW, in response to the original poster, I do really like Ben Earl's approach to memdeck work...

    Deck Switches

Maybe the best suggestion I've heard yet, simple as it is! I will research the others as well, so thank you! If I might add another element to the discussion, I'd love to get your feedback on the routine I'm developing. I'm not really at the stage yet of developing my own unique effects...

    mem deck and past midnight

I've heard positives and negatives about Si Stebbins. The positives mainly refer to how easy it is to "memorize", but in truth, I'm pretty sure the Si Stebbins stack doesn't count as a "memorized deck", but a systematic stack. I haven't studied it myself, but there are definite differences in...

    Deck Switches

Hey all, So, I've been researching deck switches, including previous posts on this forum, and have found a couple of interesting ones. Shawn Farquhar's switch is pretty nice, but requires a jacket which I generally don't wear. I've looked at a deck shell online, but haven't been able to...

    mem deck and past midnight

As you can probably tell from my name, I use Mnemonica extensively. Mnemonica has a lot of benefits, but I'm not sure it's the best stack for beginners. One of the big benefits of Mnemonica is the ability to bring a brand new deck into Mnemonica order in front of spectators without suspicion...

    Riffle Pass

Seriously, that is amazing. I've been working on the pass for a pretty short time, and I was starting to get impressed with myself. Yeah... I need a LOT more practice. I thought the vid from above was good, but the spectator angle stuff sort of erased my brain. How the...?!?!? By...

    Chaotic Card Magic

Wow, that is an amazing trick. Just the memory alone is impressive... I actually had never seen Ricky Jay do any "magic tricks". I had always seen him perform more "gambling demonstrations" and demonstrate voluminous knowledge of the history of magic, etc.

    Chaotic Card Magic

Thank you! That's the kind of thing I was looking for. I'm definitely not going for the comedy aspect, but comedy routines may indeed have some of the kinds of moves and tricks I'm looking for, and easily adapted with different patter, etc. I didn't even consider looking at that kind of...

    The D'Hotel Change

Very nice. Wish I could see it more clearly (kinda blurry), but your moves are definitely smooth as far as I can see. Nice job! I like that you use something a bit more rare, too.

    Chaotic Card Magic

That's perfectly okay. I appreciate you taking the time to read my post and respond nonetheless. In fact, you definitely got what I was going for, since you referred me to someone I took as heavy inspiration for this routine I'm creating, so thanks again. I'm not sure if I'm just too much of...

    Chaotic Card Magic

Hey all, I'm working on developing a routine, and I would love to hear people's input on trick ideas, techniques, etc. It seems like a pretty simple premise, so any creative ideas would help flesh it out. If any of you have seen Lennart Green's "Poker Deal", and pretty much anything by Juan...

    Mem-deck controls

Thanks for the reply. Could you be a bit more specific in your method suggestion? I've read about estimation in Card College, not to mention in Tamariz' book, but it seems somewhat slow to me. I may just need to find a better description of the way to go about it, but my attempts go something...

    Mem-deck controls

Hey everyone! First time posting, as I've just recently returned to card magic after several years. I picked right back up full force by buying Juan Tamariz' Mnemonica, and diving into the immeasurably deep world of memorized deck magic. I'm pretty comfortable with the structure now, and...
