    Amateur Nights

What's the best way to fold a silk handkerchief. I've tried the method in Mark Wilson's book, and even tried modifying it. It always ends up way to thick to palm and I can't get it to stay shut. Any advice is appreciated, Frankie

    Amateur Nights

Hey everyone, I'm getting ready for my first "performance," if you can call performing at a local amateur night an actual performance. I'm planning to do sponge ball into silk magic (transforming the sponge balls into a silk). I really like how my act is progressing. I just need to come up with...

    Coin magic help wanted

Hey Echo, For someone just starting off in magic, and is completely self taught, that routine was very nicely done. There are a few places that need a little smoothing out. But don't worry too much as that will come with time and practice. Since your videos are to get help, not to start a vlog...

    Small hands card tricks...

@ChristopherT I'm pretty sure Mr. Hwang wasn't looking for a "nut up or shut up" response. Small hands are a legitimate issue that he clearly wants to work through. Otherwise, he would not be asking for help. So, let's show him a little support and encouragement while he overcomes his personal...

    Small hands card tricks...

I'm still a newbie but I can definitely say that the one big thing that helped is stretching my fingers individually. Take a deck of cards and place them between each of your fingers. First individually, then moving to more than one deck at once.

    Center Tear

Bigradbrad, DL360, and DominusDolorum, Thank you for your advice. I appreciate the fact that you didn't completely write me off as soon as you saw that I was learning a few beginner tricks from YouTube. I will definitely be looking into what you have suggested. All the best, Frankie

    Center Tear

I've definitely seen a lot of what you are talking about with YT. However, I've also seen a lot of good teachers on YT teaching magic that I get good reactions from, Brian Brushwood and Jerick 1:20 being two examples for a beginner like me. I've also seen it go the other way as well. I was...

    Center Tear

I've read in a few magazines and websites about a center tear when talking about mentalist routines. From my understanding, it's a slick move to take a peek at whatever was written on the paper. I've tried to look up a few methods, but I can't find any at all. Any pointers on how to perform this?

    Last Night's Failure

I'm not posting this as a question but more as a story to let other newbies know that failure is not only okay but is going to happen. I'm still new to performing magic and my coworkers have come to know my interest in it. Last night they asked me to perform a few tricks for them. I was doing...
