    An Old Idea Reborn

I actually liked this change, although I don't buy it that it's angle-proof... The handling is a bit on the stiff side, and there is a telltale shifting of the cards when the actual change is made. You can do what Lennart Green does and purposefully hold the cards a little sloppy. I guess you...

    Rubberband through hand!

Everything up to the final add-on seems to be from the original manuscript on Crazy Man's Handcuffs (the rubberband trick). I've always felt, however, the patter as "look it's a pair of fingercuffs" was not quite right... Technique in the video was excellent though.

    Escapology

If the type of escapology is based on escaping from locks and the like with the surreptitious use of picks, most books by magicians will be rather useless. There will page after page of false knots, faked locks, and how to switch a falsified apparatus for a real one. If you want to learn what I...

How do you create a card trick?

Basically, everything that's been said here (and probably will be said) can be distilled into these three steps. 1. What do you want the audience to think you did? Be specific! 2. What is the minimum amount of "shadiness" needed to achieve the effect? Fewer moves the better. 3. Mull...

What to start with? [COMPLETE Beginner]

Three things will help you more than any of these books. 1. A friend who is also learning magic. 2. A more experienced person willing to teach you. 3. Someone who is not interested in learning magic, but is willing to look at your performance and give an honest feedback. Find these...

    Which tricks use the pass?

I see the video and I'm not convinced that a pass is necessary. Two palms, one top palm and one bottom, and one slip involving two cards can duplicate the effect. A bit more complex, but doable. I would use a pass though...

    Which tricks use the pass?

It's sort of a silly question to ask, like saying "what construction projects require the use of a drill?" A lot of them do, and a lot don't, and those that do use it can be circumvented with the use of another sleight.

Card trick you would do for a magician...?

Definitely a one way force deck (now if I ever performed to other magicians I would get one).

Maybe the stupidest question ... ?

And just like I would not juggle in the middle of a magic set, I wouldn't do flourishes aside from the popular, basic ones (fans, spreads, springs, poker shuffle, maybe a one handed cut). Just too suspicious that something else might be going on with the deck.

Keeping a deck of cards in good condition.

Hmm... I've never questioned the "deck in the freezer" idea but it's worth considering. Less water will be found in cold air because there will be less water vapor compared to liquid water (condensation rates are higher than evaporation rates). I never stated that this alone would dry out the...

    Raven Coin Vanish

How are you actually using a Raven without tying a loop? And the Raven's getting stuck because it is not brought back to the correct position before release (did you read the instructions?). It's not simply released after the pickup. P.S. How are you using a Raven without tying a loop?!?

Important tip for your muscle pass...

Hello, Getting the muscle pass to actually move high enough was hard enough, now I have to catch it with my fingertips! I tried with an "open fingers" technique, where I sort of let the coin rise to my palm, and let it drop a little to my fingers. Since the spectators can see the coin through...

Keeping a deck of cards in good condition.

Aside from the use of card clips and desiccants, I also recommend popping the ziploc bag in the freezer. The cold air holds less moisture, helping the drying out process.

May 2009 :: YouTube : Angel or Demon

Hello everyone! If Youtube is damaging magic, it is not the fault of the public. The public, as I am aware, do not care enough to look on the internet to see how our effects are done. I could hand them the packet of instructions that any trick comes with, and even then I doubt the...

    Card spring

If you want more control, you want less force to be put on the cards. Before the necessary muscles are developed, you can achieve a slower velocity of these cards by using older cards, which are much more flexible and needs more force to spring. New decks are too stiff, and can spring too...
