As an extremely amateurish magician, I would think Impromptu could almost always triumph over gimmicks, because it is what it is, Impromptu: Right here, right now, and in your face. Don't get me wrong, Gimmicks are awesome. I love em, but require setup and more of a "clean-up" than most...
