    Odyssey?

I think I am going to go with Digital Dissolve.

    Odyssey?

Is it angle sensitive or just the nature of the gimmick?

    Odyssey?

    Thanks for the advice.

    Odyssey?

I am interested in getting into ring magic. How easy is Odyssey to learn? I want to use that as an interim solution until I can get Circuit down. Thanks.

    Foundations or Foundations 2?

Thanks for the information, I had no idea these techniques were available separately. I have picked up four to work on.

    Foundations or Foundations 2?

I have enough to get one but not both. Reading the descriptions it seems like Foundations is more geared toward gambling demonstrations and Foundations 2 may have more utility for magic, or am I wrong? I am working through Card College and looking for an adjunct video series to help up my...

    $10 or under suggestion?

Someone was nice enough to give me a $10 gift card and I was looking for suggestions on tricks that are good for impromptu or walk around magic. I currently have Spidey's Psycho, Shredder, Sneak Peek and Out Of My Mind. Thanks very much for your input.

    Theory11, Ellusionist or Penguin magic?

Theory 11 simply because of the fantastic customer support and fast shipping. The fact that they carry extremely high end tricks and effects and the most gorgeous decks on the planet doesn't hurt either.

Opinions on Zodiac or Double Cross

Thanks for your input, I think I will be going with Double Cross and save Zodiac for later on.

    Foundations

I have Royal Road and someone was kind enough to lend me all five volumes of Card College. I find both books enormously helpful but I am looking to supplement it with a few DVDs or downloads. I am a beginner. My palming is terrible and telegraphed, my forces are clumsy and it takes me awhile to...

    I'm not a Cardist but...

I would enjoy being able to add some flourishes and improve my fanning techniques as part of my routines. I am currently tackling and fumbling through the Five Faces of Sybil and working on springing and dribbling cards. I have the Charlier Cut to the point where I can perform it quickly and...

What does magic mean to you?

For me magic is a testament to psychology and the fascinating intricacies of the human brain coupled with raw dexterity and skill that can only be purchased with many hours of study and practice. Even when presented as a "psychological test" or couched in the language of a society and culture...

    Self working tricks

These are three of my "go to" self working tricks. Tutorials are widely available on YouTube. 1. 21 Cards I saw this on Danocracy's channel on YouTube. The effect is simple. The spectator is shown 21 cards and asked to think of one. The cards are dealt into three piles, three times. The fourth...

    Anyone else ever get this?

I live in a college town and when I hit the bars I invariably run into engineering students and other people who think very analytically and are skeptical of anything I am doing. Rather than try and overcome that directly I borrow a piece of advice from Ramsay and say something along the lines...

Opinions on Zodiac or Double Cross

I am getting ready to treat myself to an early holiday gift and I am struggling to choose between these two effects. I hear Zodiac is an absolutely mind blowing effect and I really, really want to pick up a copy, but most of my current performances consist of me wandering into a bar and...

    Zodiac by Theory11

Genshi, While I am a novice to magic, the few times I have performed mentalist routines or tests at bars or restaurants I have always explained some aspect of what I am doing for exactly the reason you outlined: to let the spectators know that they have complete free will in their choice. What...

    Book suggestions

I am a total newbie to sleight of hand. I have found Royal Road to be accessible enough that I can work through it (slowly) and still feel like I am increasing in skill everyday. I highly recommend it. I am planning to acquire volumes 1-5 of Card College sometime after the holidays. Best of luck.

    Mentalism start

Bob Cassidy has been an enormous help in understanding the underlying principles behind mentalism. Banachek's Psychological Subtleties is also excellent. All of the Banachek I have read has been excellent so far, now that I think about it.
