    Don't Perform for Strangers

Huruey I fully agree with you. I've done a bit of performing here and there to people I've never met before in my life and its really a lot easier when you know something more about them than the clothes they wear and the drink they're holding in their hands. I'll think of a total stranger as...

    Cards

I think he just means overall. Indeed, the quality of the cards suffer when you DIY them, but I guess I'm willing to make a teeny weeny bit of sacrifice on that for my own back designs. Actually it doesn't take a lot of work, because most of the time designs are relatively fine to do, and the...

    "Chemistry Magic"?

-Remind me to get some glow sticks pronto- Well, the one that I saw had the magician pulling glass bottles and all kinds of paraphernalia out of a beaker, and you could almost swear the beaker was empty, though I didn't get to touch it. Then he called a member of the audience up on stage and...

Need some good card magic DVDs

If you don't mind a book I have for you the grandfather of Card Magic: The Erdnase Bible Free and Marvelously good.

    Bad Habit? (Not the cut)

I stand corrected. That was quite sweet!

    Sybil - No Speed!

Yep, do what works best! I want your genes man, I start rushing my way through the flourish and my cards become floor-paper

    "Chemistry Magic"?

Hey All, I just watched a stage performance not too long ago which was called "Chemistry Magic", and it featured a guy on stage doing rather cool stuff with Science. I'm not referring to things like mixing Baking Soda and Vinegar but he was really doing stuff with both cards and a lot of...

How often do you drop cards while practicing flourishing?

The last time I climbed to the top tower of a structure in the playground (bout 1.5 stories high) and attempted to spring a deck of cards to my friend on ground level. The wind was relatively strong, the cards were Guardians in relatively good condition, my long distance spring skill is perfect...

    Cards

Uh, actually there's a couple of options for you. Where I live there isn't any specialized place for printing cards, and any online places that I did find normally do runs of above 500 (which is not very helpful for people like us who just want a brick at best). I get my design, get a deck of...

    Sybil - No Speed!

FatalAce and Aris are not wrong. Somehow when you try to intentionally force yourself to go faster you will end up slower, because you rush through the flourish, you grip the cards too tight, your wrist tenses up and all that. When you stop doing that flourish for say, a week or two, it ends up...

    Custom Cards - A Fad?

Gee, I wish I had 12 Vipers, then I'll do TnRs with them or flick them out of the window (ok ok don't flame me, I'm kidding). Actually I think the Custom cards started because of all the different finishes that are applied to the cards. If you're talking about design my personal opinion is...

    Practice

For me, when I practice I actually break up the move (if its a flourish). So say I'm doing DM's Syble Helix, I'll practice the opener like 20 times, then move on to the revolution another 20 times, then the packet spin 20 times, then the closer 20 times, then all together 20 times. Once I'm done...

Worst thing that happened during a performance?

Card through table. The table gave way. 'Nuff said.

    Cards

I've printed my own before; needed a deck to use for my performance at a local exhibition, but wasn't really ready to get my custom decks all worn out from the handling. Wasn't cheap though, cost about US10 for that deck, and that was because I had a local contact who was willing to print it...

    Best cards for manipulation?

Speaking of which, anyone knows if its possible to get Wynns at a good price in Asia but not over Ebay? I've a bit of difficulty doing online transactions and my local magic store doesn't carry them.

    Smoke and Mirrors Deck

There was a rather decent looking ace design at the start of Kev's video for Smooth Operations. I think Cuso posted it on his blog when Smooth Ops was released, and the ace design was pegged to D and D. Anything there?

    Bad Habit? (Not the cut)

Hmm, I'd like to try a Vertigo sitting down (with the packet kick)

    Best cards for manipulation?

If you are looking for thin cards look for fanning cards; I know of a rainbow fanning deck that went for quite a reasonable price and was super thin. However, if you are thinking of doing some manipulation other than fanning, don't get cards that are too thin. Cards that are too thin will go...

Where can I learn this flourish?

Feel free to experiment with different positions of the cards after you weave them also. For example, cocking the top row of cards back by an angle, then fanning, will give you something quite nice. Offsetting the cards about an inch back will also give you a different type of fan.

    Bad Habit? (Not the cut)

I used to do the same thing, like, sit on a cosy chair, lean forward, arms on knees, legs a bit open and flourish. What I'll say is that its good for practicing new cuts which you are unfamiliar with, somehow, because having your elbows on your knees for support really prevents your hands from...
