I think it all depends on your audience. Once i get to know my audience i can show them tricks and lead up to something i know they will react good to. But youre right some of the simple tricks get just as great of reactions.

I need to get out of the habbit of saying "I just messed up." when i mess up, because 90% of the time they have no clue i messed up. But most of the time it is because i am nervous, just keep practicing with crowds and dont ever sell yourself out when you mess up. Just play on it and keep going.
