After not having picked up a deck of cards in over two years, I started to learn some basics again, and I realized that I've been fanning a weird way. My left hand grip is the same as that of a thumb fan, but with my right hand, my fingers are placed like this:
Index finger on left side...
From my experience:
Price: Tally-Ho > Bee > Bicycle
Deck Quality: Bee > Tally-Ho > Bicycle
I like Bee cards, except their back design. I like Bicycle's back design much better.
I think asking for a critique of your effect is almost impossible without video. Maybe you can tell us some things about angle sensitivity, use of gimmicks, or other info? Maybe you can try showing it to some people and see what happens?
Woah, the blue really shows. I'm not into the vintage style at all, but if I had to choose, I would go for Ellusionist's. I think Ellusionist's cards have better quality, too.
But I would choose the Ghosts over them any day! (I ordered 4 of them)
What are some good card magic books to buy? Some I have in mind are:
Jean Hugard & Frederick Braue - Expert Card Technique
Roberto Giobbi - Card College
S. W. Erdnase - Expert at the Card Table
By the way, are these books too advanced for beginner/intermediate-level magicians?
Hey Corey,
Your description is a bit vague, so it's going to be difficult to help you out. Posting a video of it would be much better, so that we can see if it's been a marketed effect or not. (Be sure not to give it away, though!)
Oh, I thought he was asking for a way to remove the pips from the cards. (to make a blank card, for example)
chrisweihl, you should probably elaborate a bit more.
