Eric Goldfarb EP - Startling Palm

Hey Guys, Has anyone checked out the Eric Goldfarb EP on dananddave.com? I recently met Eric at a small magic convention where he was showing his "Startling Palm" and various routines that incorporate it. By having your fingers open and in a relaxed state it takes all the heat off of the fact...

    These routines good?

That routine sucks. It's not really a routine when you compile a bunch of hard hitting effects one after the other. It takes away from the spectator's experience. Plus, most of those tricks have barely been released for a sufficient amount of time for you to be performing them properly and...

    Raise Rise Advice?

Raise rise is kind of useless to learn. The amount of time it takes to practice and master can be spent on much more useful and practical sleights. If you don't have a one handed top palm down yet you shouldn't be looking to learn raise rise.

    One handed top palm?

Don't make two seperate moves out of it. (Out jogging with the pinky THEN gripping it in the palm) Do both at once.

    Learn the pass?

Pass With Care is a great DVD to learn the classic pass. Cassford shows alternate methods of the pass such as the dribble and riffle as well. Kaufman's DVD is more of an encyclopedia style video with less detail on the each individual pass, but shows more types. I would go with Pass With...

    Palming vs. Tenkai

That man was Max Malini a sleight of hand specialist and the inspiration of many card handlers today. I myself enjoy using the rear palm. Handing the deck to the spectator to shuffle or hold while simultaneously showing my fingers open and palming their card is a pretty valuable sleight.

    Revised - "The Performer"

This is from the same guy that said a few days ago he knows about 3000 tricks to perform and is looking for new stuff. Then goes into some quality over quantity discussion. ...here is the direct quote: "I know around 600 card tricks but only can perform 250. but just name the tricks and...

    $4.04 More for Guardians

Here's an easy answer to your problem, don't buy from there. Not everyone has their own credit card (or in your case, your parents, obviously) to order items online. Magic shops are and always will be more expensive due to the sole fact that it costs more to manage staff, utilities and rent...

    Business Hours?

Business days are Monday-Friday...sorry you had to learn this the hard way.

How to keep up with new material?

At 16 you SHOULD have a job if you need money to buy this stuff. I've been working since I was 14. Its the best feeling to have your own money and to spend it. When its yours you have no restrictions as long as you have enough. You begin to take more notice of value and question if you really...

    Royal Road to Card Magic

It is just different publishers. The material is all the same.

Defect Guarantee (An effect by Keenan Gibson)

Looks like a different concept with the same handling as Red Hot Mama...which would mean that the 8 can't be handed out or inspected by the audience...unless you have a dupe of course. Overall a good trick...cool idea. If you can't hand out that 8 though its nothing but a web cam trick.

    Distortion - January 2007?

I was just searching some videos on youtube and came across this one: http://youtube.com/watch?v=o5GK1d-GS1Y The trick looks exactly like Distortion (for those of you who are impatient just skip to about 2:10 into the video), but the video was posted in January '06 while the effect wasn't...

    Help Me - Ellusionist Special

I think you should stop buying mainstream crap and buy something else.

    Anyone familiar with this trick?

Not sure if this exactly what you are looking for, but it kind of fits the explanation you provided. It is called "The Secret to a Perfect Royal Flush" and it is explained on Micheal Ammar's Easy to Master Card Miracles Volume 1. It's not impromptu and requires a minor stack.

    Transmit

The speed you performed at is fine, pay no attention to the above poster. Anyway, some of the movements when performing the sleights looked unnatural, but would probably blow right by laymen. Overall, pretty good, but not that impressive of a trick.

    I think I'm in love.

Bees are nice, but they don't have a white border which really makes false counting, reverses, and other sleights extremely hard.

    Single Card Vanish?

I don't know if this would fit into your routine, but maybe a rub-a-dub vanish?

I'm sure some of you have this book. Can someone shed some light by providing a brief honest review? Thanks.

    Card Magic Bible

Most Borders and Barnes and Noble have 1 copy of RRTCM and Expert at the Card Table in their inventory. I prefer RRTCM over Expert at the card table for a first time beginner.
