    Name this card trick?

Sorry, I assumed the name of the effect I described was different because it only used a few cards. A quick search showed I was wrong. Plenty of published methods, as you said.

    Name this card trick?

Thanks for the reply, however I think you missed an important point of my explanation. I am familiar with O & W. I think often this is done with the entire deck. The effect I am trying to describe uses only a few cards, 6 or 8. A similar result but quite different method, I think.

    Name this card trick?

I am trying to identify and then find an explanation for the card trick where you work with six or eight cards, half are black, half are red, you combine into one stack alternating black, red, black, red, a magic wave and then reveal they are no longer mixed. This is repeated building on the...

    Stand-Up Elmsley

Thanks for the link. The pamphlet was interesting. I have a jumbo deck somewhere, need to dig it out and try one of the tricks. For my current project, the instructions were too brief. I wish I could have seen the lecture that went with these notes. Too bad Mr. Castle was pre-YouTube, no videos...

    Stand-Up Elmsley

I am converting a close-up effect to a larger audience. One sleight used is an Elmsley count. I have been working on the count with my hands up for all to see. So far, so good, but I can't be the only one to try this. Can anyone point me to published instructions for this version of the Elmsley?

    Covid19 performer responsibilities?

Josh Burch, Please comment on an ideal I am considering; In some close-up environments, a bar, a causal party or similar, during flu season or whatever is next, if I can use table space, I may place a pump jar of hand sanitizer on the table and invite audience members to use it before handling...

    Covid19 performer responsibilities?

And now restaurants and bars are closed in my state. The last venue gone. I am going to rework my act like Josh has done. Please everyone stay safe.

    Covid19 performer responsibilities?

You are inspiring. You protect yourself and your audience without loss of entertainment impact. I tip my top hat to you.

    Covid19 performer responsibilities?

Oh yeah, that reminds me of that geek period I went through. Pen up the nose, pen through the tongue, needle through arm with blood. I did a thing called serial biller, burn a borrowed bill and restore it from my mouth. I stopped after a couple months. It was relatively safe for me because after...

    Covid19 performer responsibilities?

I hate it when a show gets canceled. But I can accept it. A required precaution. I try to be a responsible human. And this makes me wonder? As a performer should I be taking more precautions? I have spent many hours refining presentations for close-up, to put magic in the spectator's hand. For...

    On a Definition of Magic

I saw a good movie that reminded me of your post. Look this up; Our Magic a movie by R. Paul Wilson 2014 Warning; It's not the answer, just more questions. But that's Magic! :)

    On a Definition of Magic

Yeah, a little off track. But we could have a good discussion, start a new thread. I'll just say this, I think children 10 to teens are the toughest audience and most critical of my magic. They spend the most time watching magic on the internet. If they like your magic you can please any audience.

    On a Definition of Magic

Yes, that's the paradox. The more I learn about the illusion of magic the harder it is to reach that feeling of wonder when I watch other magicians presenting their magic. But, don't you feel enjoyment and a satisfaction when you see that moment of wonder on the audience's faces. It's not the...

    On a Definition of Magic

You are correct. And you must have performed for that age group to know. You have a better explanation for what I was trying to say, thank you. If it can not be explained by laws of science by either group, young or adult, it must be magic. And sometimes they feel wonder.

    On a Definition of Magic

Yeah, I agree with @Scodischarge and hinted that there is 'other magic' like skilled dancers in my first reply. But, as you say, you are talking about performing magic as an art. We could start a whole new thread on that topic, interesting too. That screen name is curious...

    On a Definition of Magic

Entertainment, by the book is when someone feels amusement or joy. When I do magic, I feel that my audience has been entertained when they express joy. When they smile or laugh. When they want to see more or say 'do it again'. Do you feel like your magic is entertaining and how do you know from...

    On a Definition of Magic

Magic is an experience that I share with others to create entertainment, a moment of wonder and a suspension of belief in reality. Magic must be shared with others, like all art. It's how I prefer to connect with people. It must be entertaining or it's just a puzzle. I apologize to those that...

    Who was that Magician?

For replies more on target I should have included more details, sorry. My friend performed a parlor show for a business and I was thinking of past shows of the same type for myself. I like your suggestions about including my name in scripts. Exactly the type of ideals I was hoping for. I asked...

    Who was that Magician?

I was talking with a Ring brother about his recent show. I heard from some of the audience that he did a good job, but they could not remember his name. This has frustrated me also. What are some good, subtle ways to get the audience to remember your name?
