I thought the bullet catch was good. I don't know why he said it was an illusion. If he was going to say it was an illusion why did he go through all the tape of them testing it and setting up the gun just right?

Maybe the cord was meant to cusion the blow, but someone got the timing wrong. IT's terrible, because that could turn a lot of people off magic. I hope it isn't the end of his career.

If your not sure whether they'll stick to it, I'd loan them the book. At least let them see if they're really interested in magic. If you really don't want to loan it to him though tell him to go to the library. I found some decent stuff there.
