The idea that you could remember a piece-by-piece torn and restored by memory is silly. Ya'll should've bought the DVD while you were at the lecture.

I am of the opinion that Pattrick's Mats are the best and you can get them custom cut. Not sure if it's in your price range or not, but it seems pretty close. They also seem to meet your baseline requirements. http://www.pmsmagic.com/mats.htm

Also, there's probably not a "bot" on the account or anything. Other potential buyers can put in what their maximum bid would be, so it'll automatically raise it if someone bids under that.

Not that much of a close-up convention? Maybe true, but I woulda paid double just to see Michael Ammar and John Born (obviously Banachek and Garcia were also incredible, and I enjoyed Paul Green a bit, too!).

I had an incredible time at TAOM, my first convention. I thought Michael Ammar's lecture (content and style) was INCREDIBLE. In my opinion, the style of the lecture sets the bar for what all lectures should look like. Favorite trick of the convention? John Born's coin matrix. I forget...

Also, just do a switch for a non-gimmicked sleeve and let them look at it all they want.

Texas Magic Supply is in Cedar Park Texas, just north of Austin and a very short drive. They have plenty of books there, including for beginners in coin and card magic. It's really a nice little magic shop.

I didn't think of this and you're exactly right. I can't imagine the sleights involved would be that hard with the non-dominate hand though, so maybe just go that route. My apologies.
