    All Street Self Levitation Sucks?

The Balducci isn't bad, but you do have to get the spectator's in the proper frame of mind. You get them in that "zone" and it's a miracle. You don't get them there, well then obviously it'll suck. Speaking of getting them in the proper mindset, you could just do some street/waking hypnosis...

    Magic Thread

find one strand, wrap the loose strand only around a piece of a tape a couple of times (or you could use wax) and then stick that end somewhere. Lightly grasp the rest of the threads at the end nearest the tape and gently pull away from the tape. Hope that helps.

Combining Mentalism and Sleight Of Hand...

I think if you're going to mix the two, it should be 90% or more mentalism. It's true many very successful mentalists do mix the two, but not in a 50/50 manner. It's like what everyone else said, you do too much magic then it's a small leap from "There was a prediction hanging in that box the...

    Talent Show

I like the ID idea, it would be a great closer. Maybe have the envelope signed too so you couldn't have switched it for a different one.

    Talent Show

I don't think you should close with Dresscode. Great effect, just not a closing effect. If you do Thread on stage, make sure you have a spectator up there with you watching it. If the audience can't see the thread that well, they can still see the spectator's reaction which will be good...

    Card forces

There are subtleties that sell the Riffle Force to make it extremely convinving - even if spectators are burning your hands. I believe this is an Ammar subtlety - when your right hand goes to lift off at the break, insert your index finger in the front break created by your left thumb's...

Secretly adding cards to the deck in the middle of a peformance.

an easy solution would be to leave the secret cards in the card box (or your pocket). Do some tricks, then do something either not card related or something that involves putting cards in your pocket (i.e. to make the trick more difficult, you'll get rid of the cards OR maybe card to pocket...

    Magic-con 2011

Dunno if anyone can top Tamariz from last year, but if I had to make a short list of people who might be able to, Lennart is definitely on there

    Picky about Mentalism

Metal Bending. Whether it's spoons, forks, coins, whatever, it always gets me good reactions. And billet tears/peeks are always good, especially if you throw in some cold reading. The nice thing about cold reading is that even if you are wrong - you still have the name reveal. Banachek's...

    Best Impromptu Card Tricks

Some that I do that always get amazing reactions (and I do literally mean "always") are: Two Card Monte Culligula Triumph (Roadrunner Cull) Out of this World (impromptu version that Michael Ammar teaches on his Easy To Master series) And a simple convincing control with a bottom palm to a...

    Card Schtuff

By Forces Unseen would be my answer as well :) Great book full of sleights most people don't use that are extremely practical

Getting rid of an excess object

Have you tried handing them the object with the dirty hand? That can take the heat off of the dirty hand. And when they are inspecting the object you can ditch the other thing. Other than that all I can think of is good routining to fix the problem. If perhaps you left a pen on the table, you...

    Practicing Misdirection

Great thoughts on misdirection from everyone! One thing I didn't see mentioned (and if I did, forgive me for missing it) is tension and relaxation. You lean in, you stare at your hands, you seem focused - when you're not doing a sleight. Then when you need to do the move, you relax your body...

    Favorite "Magical" move

I wouldn't say it's pointless to ask because sometimes they respond with a "yes" and they truly believe it. Just look at some metal bending when it bends in their hand. I think it's great to ask if they felt or saw it.

    Hundy 500 vs. Prophet

Agreed. Extreme Burn has so many different changes, plus on a good number of the handlings there is no bad angle (except for directly underneath you but I don't know why anyone would be looking at that angle anyway!)

    Triumph help

My favorite version of Triumph is Kostya Kimlat's Culligula Triumph but that does require a cull. It does however avoid placing the last card on top. I also do the Renegade version, and if you're getting called out on placing the last card on top might I suggest changing not the method but...

    Card Force Without Cards

There's also Docc Hilford's Projected Force which is similar to Derren's (and in fact I believe it preceded Derren's by a good amount). Plus the suit force is much less odd looking than Derren's and more natural. Docc's can be found in Bride of Monster Mentalism or in Killer Konceptions by...

    Card Control

My favorite method is the convincing control. The reason being (for those unfamiliar with the move) is that it leaves a card outjogged in the middle, so the spectators are convinced that their card is in the middle of the pack but it's really on the bottom. Great move. Since you never mix up the...

    Thread by Wayne Houchin Review

Well you can actually have the thread dangle from your eye in the gimmicked version, your eye just has to be really closed tight. Whereas in the geek version you can have your eye completely open and show the thread dangling from it. I hope that didn't give too much away. If it did, feel...

    Psychokinetic Touches by Banachek (Book)

I agreey with sciffydof. Once you learn the method you may be let down, but once you actually do it - the reactions are priceless. Great effect but you have to actually do it to grasp how good it actually is.
