    Tarbell System Manuscript?

Thanks for clarifying, that is what I meant. I don't know how many were around either. I have found two for sale online and I would agree I have one in better condition. I am not quite sure what to do with it as of yet. I have this and about 150 issues of a lot of magic magazines that I need to...

    Tarbell System Manuscript?

So I have a relative who I learned was a magician, not only that he knew Houdini. All his stuff is sitting in my grandmas garage. I found a first edition copy of a book written by Houdini with a personal note to my relative from him and his wife, and a picture of him with Houdini. Apparently my...

    The so called orbinase change

Magicians need to learn what people in the music community are starting to learn. There are only so may cords and notes in music, any progression you create you can't own. You can take credit for the lyrics or the way you present the cords, but you can't own them. Odds are someone else has...

May 2009 :: YouTube : Angel or Demon

For the spectators it can destroy the "magic" of the effect. But it seems like most people who look for exposure on youtube are also the hecklers. I've had a few occasions we one of my spectators says, "I know how that's done, he.." and some one else stops him because they don't care to know and...

How do I take my magic to the next level?

Well it depends what you mean by next level. Do you want to pursue more card magic? or are you looking to expand from what you already know? If you could define what you mean by that a bit better you'll get better answers. PS- I would say make your own effects, a great route to go.

Saturday Night Contest - The Blaine Effect

I first got into magic by watching as a kid the worlds greatest magic series the old stuff. And I was always fond of Lance Burton. However, I grew out of that phase more or less because I just couldn't do stage magic in rural Minnesota (a lack of stages) So the passion and art died. It wasn't...

    Accidental Magic

My favorite is I was playing with my cards in an eating area and a person and his friends asked if I did magic I said I did and they asked to see something. So I asked him to name any card and he said four of hearts. So I riffled through the pack and pulled out a random card and it just so...

    Cards - Do they matter?

I agree with Steerpike. Some decks don't work for a certain personality. I wouldn't recommend a comedy routine with vipers or black anything, unless your humor is dark. The audience shouldn't question the cards otherwise there is a piece of information that is not be conveyed to you spectators.

    Fear and the Modern Magician

I think that is a good thing to do, I have a magic buddy who purchased gecko., and has yet to use it. But I think it is something that would work great in like a mall or a place where there are a lot of people and a lot going on at once. Maybe you've used it in similar situations

    Fear and the Modern Magician

Every trick is performable. Some are better than others. For example, TNR (not TrN, just FYI) - I will never perform Matthew Bich's TNR, simply because it does not leave the spectator with an examinable card, nor a souvenir. I use my own method for a torn and restored card effect because...

    Fear and the Modern Magician

How many effects have you learned yet never performed? What were your reasons for not attempting it? For most it is the common phrase “it’s just not practical”. It seems most of the time that this is a clever cover up for “I am afraid of being caught/failure”. So which is it? Is the effect...

    d+M - Trilogy

I don't have the trilogy but I have purchased "one" and I would highly recommend it to anyone. And I am sure that "two" and "three" are just as good

    One Handed Pass

S.W. Erdnase one handed shift can be found in Expert at the Card table. And this one is an actual shift. It would most likely be what you are looking for.

The Average Joe Magician - A case study in banality...

You know I was thinking about this topic this week. I had just finished reading a book "Outliers" which talked of this concept to some extent. Which really when you think about it this is the foundation that makes or breaks a magician. If your just like everyone else who is gonna care? Its...

    Life Savers by Michael Weber

I've thought about getting it but I would like to see a review on it and have yet to find anything of the sort. Does anyone own it? Is it worth it? I really just want to get out of car effects and learn some more spur of the moment effects.

    Giving Private Magic Lessons

I have two close friends that I teach. But when they asked for lessons I didn't just give them out. I made sure they really wanted to learn and not know the secrets. So what I did was simply show them a trick and asked them to tell me how it was done. Now they could have just gone on the...
