3Fry

sweet its out it is in books and stuff so i dunno if i shud get it

There are lots of items on video that are also available in books. The question should be if you believe that you will benefit from having the effect explained with video of someone performing it correctly, and going over the nuances of the handling, or if you are comfortable learning it from a book.

I got it yesterday because I don't have the money to get Kenner's book. I'm a fan of " The Deep" in CoinOne so I went ahead and got this.

It is gonna seem pretty finger flicky to most who are getting this. I have no probelm with it I love it.

Blindside, what exactly do you mean by finger flicky? Also, is it something that a relative beginner to coin magic could pick up on? And are the angles good?

Many thanks! Still waiting for a review of this before I buy, but maybe your answers will be enough to convince me to get it :)

The angles are good, 180 degrees. If someone is behind you, you can easily have them stand in front of you - because they won't be able to see the effect if they're behind you.

It's something that a relative beginner to coin magic cannot learn just by watching the effect, but is something that can be learned easily.

There are some good sleights that can be useful, if your into coin magic.

But many experienced magicians with coin magic will know the effect when they see it.

Cheers,
JTM

Oh, sorry, that was bad phrasing on my part. I meant "Is it something a relative beginner to coin magic could learn?". But you already answered that question very nicely :)

Anyway, you've convinced me to spend the 5 bucks. If I don't like it....oh well. It's 5 bucks :D

I downloaded 3fry and I don't know if I'll ever really perform it, but it was still worth it because of all the great tips Chris gives you for coin magic in general. The only part that can be a bit tricky is the second vanish, the rest is relatively simple once you start practicing.

By finger flicky I mean you have to be accurate while being smooth/graceful to make it look right. I've got it down and it's fun to do. I use some of my own moves for some of the vanishes/ reapearances.

This is something you need to do quick while being smooth, I love doing it..Makes me feel cool :) I can go into Silver Dream right after 3 fry.

I think that this is something someone who doesn't know his way around coins should NOT just pickup and do.

Chris Kenner teaches it so anyone who knows his stuff with coins can do it easily, first you need to build that muscle memory you need with coins.

Get working with false transfers, retentions and a ton of others and get it so you can do it in your sleep :)

--------

If your not smooth with this everyone is going to think the obvious in where the coins HAVE to be.

In his book it is called Long Gone Silver.
Three fry in the book is supposed to have the three coins change to copper.
Was wondering why the name change??

Three Fry isn't exactly Long Gone Silver because the silver dollars just reappear, and do not change to copper. That's probably why the name is different because its a variation on the effect.

In "The Right Stuff" This effect is simply titled Three Coin Vanish. pg 36.

The name of the effect was changed when Chris and Homer did the books Totally Out of Control and Out of Control. I still think of them as seperate manuscripts.

LGS is on pg62 threefry is on pg 30 of the Totally Out of Control section Chris's book.

Long Gone Silver is a vanish and reroduction of the coins as is the new video released as 3fry.
T
he effect 3fry in Chris's book is a mimicing of the vanish and reproduction as taught in Long Gone Silver with the added twist of the three coins changing to copper coins. I change them to casino chips.

I was hoping to see the change done with the new video but only the vanish and reproduction were taught.
I got a video of Chris doing the whole effect from the early 90's when he worked at Illusions in Indiana ......very nice effect. I was just hoping to see it more clearly than on my old video tape. Hellbound would be another I would enjoy seeing as it is very diffcult to do for me.

Jack go back and reread the effects in the book. I hope I made it more clear as to my confusion as well as the name of the trick. Whatever it is called I do the effect and have used it for over 17yrs now.

I also want to thank Chris for releasing these effects here at T11 ...thanks man.
Later,
Snorri

P.S. I still call threefly Menage Et Troi.

As Snorri pointed out, three fry has a silver to copper ending, and the version put out on Theory 11 is simply long gone silver with out the wand. :)
Menage Et Trois is a coins across routine I believe, though it's commonly miscalled as Snorri also pointed out.

I'm pretty sure that these are the facts, it would be nice if Kenner could clear it up for us.

Yeah, you and Snorri are right.

The Three-Fry version that is available in the 1-on-1 section is not the Three-Fry in "Totally Out of Control," but rather is called Long Gone Silver. I'm not sure for the reason for the name change.
