A card prediction effect search

So, I recently saw a magician perform some very wonderful magic. He did a particular card trick I had not seen before. Head a spectator name a number, color, shape, and famous person name. He then said he would with the power of suggestion force the spectator to pick a specific card in the deck. Which he did do and then he said he had something in his pocket. An envelope and inside were four cards, with written in sharpie the four picked things above. I hadn't seen one like this before and was quite impressed. Especially if you had read my post before on prediction magic. Has anyone else seen this effect before? Anywhere that I can look into it or the concepts behind it? Or perhaps you need some more detail...

This sounds like a perfectly executed effect. You've remembered exactly what the perfomer wanted you to remember. There are a number of ways to accomplish this effect. My sense is that this may be a combination of a variety of principles. A good starting point is Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic, the Four Way Test - hey, there are four objects. I think may also includes principles discussed in Bancheck's Psychological Subtleties based on the questions asked. Additionally, the cards might be gaffed and/or shown using standard card techniques or the cards in the envelope may be indexed. Finally, there are other methods for getting the cards to be an exact match which may be in play based on the use of a card selection as a last phase (which in my mind represents a perfect opportunity for misdirections). Simply put, there are a lot of ways to accomplish this effect.

There may be a published version of this effect but one doesn't jump to mind. This just sounds like an effect developed by someone who knows what they are doing. My suggestion, is to enjoy it for a great piece of magic. If you want to learn about predictions, study mentalism. Start with Anneman's Practical Mental Magic. You could build a show from what is in that book.

I did notice some suggestion that now that you mention it Banachek does talk about in Psychological subtleties. I do understand one aspect of the cards revealed at the end, he saved the name for last and was much more 'careful' when he revealed that one, with some sleight of hand I was familiar with. I will look into Mark Wilson's work thanks for the tip. It was a well constructed effect and I have yet to find anything on the market that is similar. Hence my curiosity with it grows
