To the Moderator that looks over this post... I initially posted it while logged into my wifes account that I created for her, because she likes playing the "Holiday spin game" I didn't log out of her account before posting so if you see this post by "LindsayAdy" can you please NOT post it, as it is a post I created by accident and it was meant to be posted via my account, this one!

The above statement aside,

Here are a few Deceptions I came up with and finally got around to filming today. Feel free to subscribe to my channel as I will be posting a video within a week or so explaining how I will be doing "Deck GiveAways"!!!!

Anyway, Please feel free to tell me what you think about the videos, I know that my video persona is not fully developed the way that I want right now but i'm still working on it, I'm use to performing without a camera on me so I think my video persona is a little sketchy at the moment and needs a little more work, if not a LOT more work.

Without further ado, ENJOY:

These are deceptions that I "consider" Original as I have not seen anything like them in the time I have studied magic, with the exception of "Blind 2.0" I know that it can be debated that ALL magic is "recycled" but I hope that you enjoy my spin on things if that is the case.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME!!!

Center Tear - It was easy for me to figure out, I know precisely your method and without totally exposing it I'll just say the Christmas wreath to your left was a nice touch. (wink wink) I'll stop their to save you the embarrassment.

Blind 2.0 - I stopped watching after 30 seconds when I noticed you were using cards from the competition of T11.

Eidetic - I stopped watching after 26 seconds when you blatantly forced a card on your wife which in my book is the gateway step to spousal abuse. I'm not here to speak about your domestic issues, that's your business....but I can't approve of that behavior, just sayin'.

Cool hat.

Regards,

NG.

Not sure what the Christmas wreath has to do with anything... But feel free to shoot me a PM if you want too and criticize the mess out of me and let me know what you believe I've done s well as how long it took you to catch things (hopefully not long seeing as my pace was terrible) ... That's what I've done with other forums, so that I can improve... So far the things I've taken away from criticism is that I ABSOLUTELY NEED to work on my showmanship as well as my "video" persona in general... Cause let's face it, the pace is slow and needs a LOT of work.

Also regarding the tricks, in general, they need to be simplified more... I added unnecessary words and signatures... Etc that didn't NEED to be done.

I'll say this though, I GLADLY accept ALL critiques as long as they are helpful to me and my development then I welcome it!

Thanks

Hey Terry! I saw these vids on another forum where you posted but never gave you any feedback. If I may I would like to say that it's really cool you're coming up with original tricks. But here is where my constructive criticism comes in. You're voice, you sound almost, depressed or like you aren't confident in what it is you're showing me. The main thing I would say would be that while working on your persona you might consider possibly adding a bit more charisma to it. It seems to me you're going for the dark mysterious type of persona. This is all well and good and shoot it seems that it will suit you. But, nobody likes to see too much gloom ya know? I hope I didn't offend you man I was just stating my observations. Hope to see more from you!

I don't take that as offensive at all. Thanks for your feedback, almost every video on my YouTube channel have all been filmed in ONE shot while stressing between the filming because my 6 month old daughter has been teething and driving me nutty...

The few clips of me in a hotel room were actually filmed at about 3-5 am after spending all night in casinos around cigarette smoke, so I look a little worn down. I find VERY little time to perform on film, unfortunately. I make this decision to perform for people in person, in my little bit of free time rather than on film, seeing as my wife hasn't exactly gotten the filming thing down quite yet. As soon as she can develop that "filming talent" I should have a MUCH easier time getting things laid out on film, Cause its kind of hard to film everything with a tripod.

As far as the persona, its definitely off right now, ON FILM a LOT more than in person. I haven't been sleeping very well the past 6 months either, so my video persona tends to get REALLY dulled out. When I perform in person I'm actually VERY high strung. So finding myself has been a little strange, cause I like the idea of the mysterious persona but at the same time, i like to be extremely talkative. Its just all about finding the direction i want to go and sticking with it, working on the details to who i'll become and continuing in the RIGHT direction.
As far as confidence, I am confident, I'm just flat out WORN DOWN. I have been working a full time job, being a parent to 3 children, perfecting my mechanics and then starting up that YouTube channel. Then I've also been wearing myself even more thin by trying to design a deck of cards. (I'm overworked and its showing BIG TIME in my YouTube Videos...) I love the art of magic and the fact that I'm coming off so dull kind of gets to me because its a passion that I want to express correctly.
But I've been getting ahead of myself in the sense that, I film a trick and simply post it, I never do second takes or anything to make my performances look better on film, simply because i feel stretched thin on time already. But as I've started looking at it, If I continue doing THAT, my videos will all be the OPPOSITE of what I want them to be.

Center Tear video:

0:01 - Holy hell that is really ****ing red! That screen actually hurts the eyes. Too much red and too many conflicting lines.
0:09 - Gold star for showing your face, but your delivery lacks any real energy and you mumble your lines. You sound like you're shaking off the effects of drinking a quart of NyQuil.
0:15 - Doing this in front of the mirror was a mistake. The glare coming off of it is pretty intense and very distracting.
0:24 - I can't understand a word you're saying.
0:35 - Black ink does not show up very well on blue-backed cards and it's even more difficult to see on digital video. You should be using red-backs for this.
1:03 - "And sometimes I just trail off, I don't really know..." Pull back the camera, please.
1:49 - Pacing's a little off here. As is the focus.
2:10 - This would be a lot better with a tripod.
2:33 - Dude, I have to ask. Are you stoned in this video? Because that's what my stoner friends look like after their third doobie. Your energy level here is awful. You're not projecting any charisma, confidence, anything! You look like you want to be anywhere but in that room, if you're even sure you're in that room at all.
3:34 - The slow reveal was good, but diminished by the lack of screen presence.
3:45 - Okay, now you're just messing with it too much.
4:06 - So what was all the writing earlier supposed to accomplish? Whole lot of extra bells and whistles that didn't add anything to the effect.

Blind 2.0 video:

0:12 - Dude, you need to stop mumbling. Christ, Eddie Vedder has better diction than this. Also, what kind of microphone are you using?
0:31 - Ah, I just saw a tripod in the mirror. Gold star.
0:52 - I would say something about the scripting, but I can't hear any of it. Right now I'm left to assume it's just say-do-see. Which is bad.
1:27 - The gestures look fake. Your body language in general is incongruous. I'm not really getting a sense of anything except sleep deprivation from you. I understand you have a kid, but if you actually are losing sleep trying to raise her, that's not a good time to be filming yourself.
1:58 - Right now, this was basically a novelty, but it doesn't look all that impressive. The payoff isn't worth the setup. There needs to be more drama leading up to the reveal.

Eidetic video:

0:15 - Again, I can't understand anything you're saying and your body language is just kind of listless.
0:51 - You look very uninterested in what you're doing.
1:08 - I picked up just enough of that to realize that this is indeed say-do-see scripting. There's nothing more boring than telling people what you're going to do and then doing it.
2:07 - This is the sort of reveal more appropriate to telepathy than a memory demonstration. If you want to talk about memory, you have to actually be pretty good with mnemonics or it just looks phony.
2:42 - Now it's starting to drag.
3:19 - That reveal was incredibly sedate.

Short answer: your presentation needs a lot of work. You need to improve your scripting, clear up your diction, project your voice, put forth a lot more energy, and exude some real presence.
