I'm sure "Burn out" aka "the burnt card trick" is a well known one.. and one of my favorites.. but just in case it's not known, a brief description of the effect:
card is chosen, card is returned to the deck, deck is cut, lighter is lit, edges of deck are passed through the flame, one card has burnt edges. Fairly simple.
I bought some flash string to add to the effect of the card burning (they were out of flash paper, my first choice), and I wondered..
Is there any way to treat the edges of the card to have flash paper-like qualities? For the border to go up in flames, leaving a charred but legible card? That way, the card could be signed, and the trick would be so much more impressive..
Like I said, most likely impractical.
