Hey guys,
This may not have been the smartest thing to do, but I did, in fact, learn how to pick a pair of Smith & Wesson Model 100 handcuffs on YouTube. (Is there anything they DON'T expose today?) Later I ordered my first pair of cuffs online and had escaped from them (without a key ) within an hour of receiving them. I've had these cuffs for almost a year now, and I've noticed they've become harder and harder to pick. The mechanism that releases the jaw is becoming more stubborn; so much so, that I've actually stopped practicing with them because I'm worried my pick will break off in the keyhole... Which has happened before.
Anyway, my question is: Do handcuffs get "worn out" if you pick them too much? And how often should I lubricate them? The instruction manual says "periodically" but doesn't give any suggested length of time.
Thanks,
-Matt
