A friend of mine came up with a great alternate ending for Wayne Houchin's new effect Counterfeit. Instead of using a lighter to fuse the last piece back together, a lighter app on a phone can be used in the same way. This would be great to use in schools or restaurants where lighters cannot be used and also leaves the spectators thinking about how the card ends up burnt.

I idea of using a phone in magic like that is something I'v been thinking about lately (not that specific example). I idea of the birds appearing also is interesting. The idea of a burn appearing on a playing card clearly has a lot of potential, see Jay Sankey's Carbon Paper. Using a phone would also make the s****h at the end more deceptive because it could be done under the phone instead of in the pockets.
