IT is Invisible Thread - as in thread that is very thin. EIT is Elastic Invisible Thread - as in thread that is very thin and also stretchy.

There's a good bit of cross over between what EIT and IT can do, but generally IT is stronger because it doesn't stretch, but EIT requires less to worry about in regards to body movement or reels.

Does it affect the type of effects I can do?

Not really, it is better to think of EIT and IT as utility devices that can both achieve the same effect. It just requires a different methodology to come to it. If you're trying to figure out which one works better for you just buy both. Play around with them and go from there.
