Hey Justin! Here's the answer: that die is used to test the material used to filled the holes of the die. The goal being that the material used to fill the holes of the die should be the exact same weight as the material used to make the die itself. In the case of that particular die, the weight of the spots is less heavy (you can tell because 9 out of 10 times, the die in the caliper lands with the spots UP or is bottom heavy).
