Finishes: What are they?

I read on various decks about different finishes such as "air-cushioned finished" and others. I don't know what they mean! Would someone give a list, with explanations/definitions of the different finishes available today as well as historically?

Long story short, virtually everything made by the USPCC nowadays has the same finish. Tally-Hos, for example, had a Linoid finish, but now that USPCC bought them and produce them, they have the same finish as Rider Backs have.

If you want to know more, then the link that DominusDolorum posted is an excellent resource. David of Magic Orthodoxy has some really great vids. I can personally blame thank him for many of my deck purchases. :D

In the past year, USPCC has created their own version of the chemical "Magic Finish" and they tell me that all of their decks include it - but it's unadvertised.

Technically ... air cushion isn't a "finish" it's an linen embossing that is stamped into the cards when the paper is crushed.
