Heya, I have been wanting to add a little pazaz to my one coin routine that I made up. Is PAZAZ a word? I think it is.
Well I have been thinking about flash bursts. I was first introduced to one at a magic store on Hollywood blv. by a good friend who works there. I understand the prices and I have read reviews but I still don't think it is enough, from what I hear either you love or hate them.
Is there anyone here who owns one, who has owned one, or uses one, or who has any history with one? I would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks for everything.

Pizazz.

I've never heard of flash bursts, so I can't help you there, but I thought I'd give you the right spelling.

I do not own one but one of my friends has one. If I am correct it is a flesh colored gimmick that you hold in your hand and it can shoot a flash a flame very quickly about 10-12 inches from your palm. Definitely catches your eye and draws attention. It seemed more of a need gadget to me but you eventually need to ditch it to end clean.

Haha, thanks Christopher.

Revver, sorry I should have been more clear this is a flash burst.

Interesting. I'd like to see a video of this because i don't understand how it can have sparks, flames, etc and not be pyrotechnic. They're being very loose with their advertising and I wouldn't be surprised if there were more surprises in store.

Personally I won't be buying that until I see:
A video in action (not of the gimmick, of course).
Someone who owns it and is happy.

I've seen some fireball-shooters before that were like flintwheel fingertip addons, but that sounds quite tedious for something like a coin routine and is a routine in itself.

EDIT: Oh, a bright flash of light. Boy I'm getting tired. I can probably hook something like this up in a few minutes with the right materials for a paltry sum of dollars, but i suppose it can work well. I can't see it being much other than cheesy and a clear disguise as to what you're doing. A pure slight of hand routine with no obvious coverups looks incredible rather than ones in which your hands are clearly obfuscated.

Either way, best of luck and hope you can find out soon ;D.

Another option would be flash paper.

Draw a coin on the paper, light it, and you then have a coin at your fingertips.

I don't have flashburst, never seen it demoed either. I agree with nIvan, sounds like a simple setup overall, one trip to radioshack or a hardware store and an hours work could probably replicate the effect, and the specifications/modifications could be to your liking.

With that said, if your friend works at the magic shop and can attest to its greatness and ease of use, it might be worth a shot. This seems like one of the few items that could be returned at a magic store.

I like the one I have and it comes in handy when fire is out of the question. Also I just want to be clear I made my own from a disposable camera circuit, cardbox, wires and switches. It is a nice thing to use when you want to distract attention from an object as you sleeve it. Or good to use to accent a magical moment like a Gene Anderson Newspaper Restore.

Edit:

I do not know if he still makes it but look for Fism Flash made by John Cornelius, I believe he is the first to make one of these items. Had to go make sure I was going to spell his last name correctly.
