I'm looking for a trick that allows me to slip handcuffs my own wrists instantly and smoothly, preferable ending with the handcuffs seeming to remain locked. After a quick Google search, there seem to be several possibilities out there, but I want to make sure I'm not getting a cheap toy. Anyone know of a solid version of this effect on the market?

Houdini Shackles, or cuffs could do this. They add the intrigue that they are old fashioned cuffs and the impossibility of a separating bar between the hands. Thumb cuffs also allow this type of escape. The beauty with both of these is that they can be examined by participants and you can even lock your spectators in the cuffs as well.
I believe I got mine from Royal Magic from a magic shop. I'll get back with you on that.
